Void

There is not enough air nor enough to fuel to recover from mistakes, or to explore every facet of the ruins in orbit. Jump from wreck to wreck as your life expires, and find what you are looking for - or breath your last breath under the beautiful light of a dying star.

Badges :

Void is a slow paced scenic suffocation simulator with painterly graphics, creepily tense breathing, and haunting music. Maybe you'll contemplate dedication, risk, goals, and meaning in your real life. What would you give your life for? Would you give it even if you might not succeed?

Gameplay

Race against the clock of your depleting air supply, spending fuel to add force vectors to yourself - physics students might enjoy this. Optimize your style between spending more fuel to move quickly or conserving fuel to change directions more times to navigate the agoraphobic field of space junk. Select your path wisely to collect more air and fuel resources floating in the environment.

Play two missions, each key moments of the life of the protagonist. The player realizes the meaning in the protagonist's life to win the game.

The pace of the puzzle is controlled by the player's knowledge and ability - although a "speed run" player might finish the game in a few minutes, the ruins will take many hours to learn and master.

Did a quick look of Void here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QD-HspvHjSM Space is hard, space is hell. Traversing that vast nothing with limited fuel and oxygen isn't fun. Is it supposed to be? More often than not you will run out of fuel and find yourself slowly drifting. SADLY this game has no way to exit to a menu without force-quitting it, so you have to wait a minute or more until your oxygen runs out to try again. The ruins you travel around are bland untextured masses of rock and metal drifting around space. IF you can actually manage to navigate around them. Launching yourself about in this game is less an exercise in skill and more blind dumb luck. Getting stuck on objects, impossible mid course adjustments and having no clear direction are the challenges you'll face. The developer claims you'll be "experiencing a hauntingly personal tragedy" while playing this game. TOO TRUE! 10/10

There really isn't enough here to be a game. It's a death sentence. Boosting for the next fuel/air nugget is too hard to do accurately, and you start with so little fuel that the only way to learn by trial and error is to die. A lot. And I'm not patient enough to die that much.

The ambient music paired with the anxiety of strained breathing-the core of human survival- presents a compelling contrast. I find the same effective dichotomy in the soothing choice of color and the perilous theme. It seems much thought was given to this design and game play, with numerous real-life metaphors. The pace allows an urgent, yet calculated, approach to problem solving. Recommended.

ok so 3 major problems. wel, 2 major ones, 1 minor one. the minor issue is i prefer games with window opions, this doesnt have one, that said, the two major flaws are MAJOR. there is no way out. when in the game you need to restart your computer to exit, no escape command or ability to leave from opening menu. then inside the game you have essentially zero control, without ability to bring down mouse sensitivity youre all over the place and then wind up with no fuel floating into infinity listening to your guy suffocate. over and over and over until you restart. MAJOR issues. this game is broken in my opinion until these are handled

I really enjoyed to play with Void. You are alone, in the space and you are doing everything to stay alive a few more minuts and for that, you need to catch oxygen and fuel. It is an independant game, it is beautiful and the most important for some of you, it is not expensive at all. I call Void a survival game in real condition.

Here's thoughts of my first 15 minutes in the VOID: Tried training mode first but it froze so I restarted the game. Tried again, same result, same solution. I then tried the main scenario. It's either it lags and/or the wonky controls and/or ''motion blurr'', but the orientation/control is, quite awful. Athough really cool atmosphere, I wish I could enjoy it more.. By reducing the ''Fantastic'' settings to ''Bearable'' somehow, but there's no option menu, neither when you boot up the game nor in the main menu. (EDIT: I find that when you lower your resolution, it may help a bit, if you experience the same thing I explained). So I tried again the main scenario, I took my time so I could get the hang ot it and now it's okay-ish, but I wish it could have atleast lower settings IF the controls were intended to be tedious. It was still tedious, so I went back and tried training mode, again. It froze so I waited it out until it warmed up (cough...) it'll work, it'll work I said....... and it worked! Only to find a terrible choice of music: Upbeat dubstep or whatever it is while listening to someone lacking oxygen.... So I endured both, and the tutorial was fine afterall. Then I tried Random scenario and then, only then, the game became good, myabe: You are presented some sort of objective and there the music fits Longing thought while playing: I'm sure I'd be better off playing Capsule... But, I won't, because gameplay-wise, with its theme and its music, Void is a win but the lack of options, especially visual/graphic settings and that intense ''motion blurr'' lost a chunk of my interest. While it has its flaws, It does offer its players a tense experience of struggle with little to no control, in space.

Really stressful. The mouse is very sensitive and it is quite difficult to aim. It is very immersive once you give into it : there is a strong atmosphere of despair and loneliness. It was a nice one-time expercience, but I would need something more substantific to be completely pleased.

A rather difficult game until you know where to go. Once I found the objective and headed for it (her) I could get there easily. Also very short, unless I'm wrong, it has only one level. Weird
