Way too rough. I love the idea and presentation. I mean, it's a tomato with a hat. Of course I'm gonna spend a couple bucks on it. But it just isn't polished enough to be out in the wild. Especially given it is a trilogy. Maybe I can appreciate it in hindsight if I play the other two games but there were just too many headaches in the 80mins it took me to completionist this game. False positive with virus protection on the .exe, crash to desktop on first launch, options menu wouldn't load, no gamepad support, crash to desktop twice more while playing, frame dips, bad camera angle switches, obstacles that could become mistimed, a couple bad checkpoints, endless fall if you go too far off a ledge which requires shutting down the game, etc etc. It's half baked, if that. Love the idea, love the visuals, and would be proud to of made something remotely close to half as good as this. I can appreciate what the dude pulled off. There's some great concepts here. A good base, unique visual style/animations, and even serviceable ball rolling vibes... But it just isn't ready for the limelight. I'll plow through the other two games down the road and circle back with an edit to this review with that perspective. It might be fun to see the developer's growth through the three games. But this game on its own is only a "neat project", and even at the tiny price, probably isn't worth it. There's definitely worse stuff on Steam. A LOT worse. But this is just too rough for a recommendation.

I bought this to be a light game, to play on my ultra book, but this game is poorly optimized, it can run well but the top of my lap begins to burn. On my tower, the game still has a low frame rate, and still has clunky, unresponsive controls. Pros: Nice style Low power drive Solid platformer Fez inspired gameplay Thoughtful level design Cons: Horrendous camera Unresponsive controls Artificially padding game time via starting the level with a back screen for a few seconds Clunky gameplay Low resolution textures Overall verdict, you should buy this game. I seemed harsh on this game, at the beginning of this review, because I really like this game and I want the developer to help fix these issues. I want him to grow and learn, from his past, and honestly I love this game and I want to see more platformers like this.

Edit: 8/3/16 Load times have been drastically shortened and is better optimized, which definitely improves the game! Still worth buying, even without the 2% discount! Original review: Tomato Jones is a simple platformer with a funny theme. It's amusing for what it's worth. Unfortuntely, it's also poorly optimized. While the game hasn't crashed yet, poor frame rates, long load times, and camera issues definitely bring the whole experience down. 7/10 Get it while it's 2% off!

Really great concept and an enjoyable game to play. Besides the interesting control (which In my opinion is fitting for the game) the only real problem it has is the load times. The game has about a 5 second load every time you die because it reloads the whole level rather than just reverting you back to a checkpoint. If those loads are reduced, and the game optimized and tweaked a bit, this game will be fantastic!

Tomato Jones: prepare to ketchup edition. It's a little game done by pretty much one person. You control a red cancerous growth in a hat, affectionately dubbed a tomato, through some perilous levels. And you die. A lot. And then some. People who tend to faint at the sight of tomato juice are advised to stay away from this title. Some parts can be a bit difficult and the protagonist fruit (bite me) has quite a lot of inertia, which can be frustrating to some people, but overall, it's fine. There are just 20 quite short levels, the whole game can be probably finished under an hour, two if you want to collect every coin. But then, the game is very cheap, so it's not like you risk much. If you're wondering why I have 5 minutes playing time, there is a bug where game fails to launch from steam app. Before you request a refund, just go to the game folder (..\Steam\SteamApps\common\Tomato Jones\System ) and run Tomato Jones.exe. Works fine, just doesn't count the time you spend playing.

This game is fun, and the graphics are very nice to look at. However, it is a fairly challenging game due to how sensitive the controls are. Maybe that is just my opinion, otherwise apart from that it is a good game so far, and I can't wait to get more into it and complete it. Definitely need more patience with this. XD

It's OK but I could never play it again. People who have the patience to keep replaying the same sections over and over again may like it. No where near enough checkpoints for my liking. I ran out of patience about 35 years ago playing games like Manic Miner where you could spend hours getting to the last level and dying only to start at the beginning again; it's not that extreme but annoying enough for me to give up.
