The short: One of my all-time favourites – strongly recommended! How can you not love puzzles based on little gammies in a “fungipunk” world! Run off and buy – now 😊. Good puzzles, starting off simple, moving up to nicely challenging. Well balanced and progressive difficulty. No time pressures, stress or scary stuff. If considering this game for smaller children, note hints at a more serious underlying backstory. Replayability value. Can be enjoyed in small bites or longer stretches, as you feel like. This game is one of my favourite go-tos. And always leaves me smiling and in a better mood than when I started in. What better recommendation can I give !?! Please try it - if you’re a puzzle fan, or didn’t think you’d like puzzles, or are curious, or just whatever. The longer: Basically, the task is to guide little “gammies” through gates and over bridges, following increasingly complex rules for blocked and open pathways based on colour codes. Starts out with primary colours red, yellow, blue, and moves on to colour combinations, colour switches and colour drains. *Great stuff.* Simple and uncluttered, yet deceptively challenging. Note that the design includes shape codes, alongside the colour codes, and all colour codes are strong and vivid, to make differentiating easier. Good progression and difficulty. (Most reviews seem to agree on this, with only very few finding the puzzles either too hard, or not challenging enough. So I think devs hit the sweet spot here). *Gorgeous* 2D visuals and artwork. The setting is wonderfully inventive, a landscape of intricate and towering fungus growths, nodes and twinkly things, and the cutest caterpillar bridges and beetle bridges. And the gammies themselves have movements and body language that is utterly compelling, and done with an impressive attention to detail. Like note that their ears echo their code shapes, and that the yellows fly off at a little bit of a tilt since the propellor necessarily must attach on one side of the triangle. Stuff like that… Although the gammies themselves and the primary colours give a very cute impression, please note that the underlying vibe is more serious. More hinted at than specifically detailed even in the written cutscenes (life-and-death, choices, family dynamics, emotion). But as you progress through the levels, the artwork also incorporates what I interpret as brain and body structures and hospital-related imaging tools, which give a serious undertone to this even visually. Backstory is not strictly necessary to the game. It's fairly easy to skip quickly past if you choose to. Although I thought it was a neat juxtaposition of serious and more lighthearted. C’mon, how often do you get to play around with brain synapses and fungi and caterpillars, and all of it good fun! I notice from other reviews that some people found that the backstory felt disjointed from the gameplay, while others really appreciated something more than just a bunch of basic puzzle mechanics. So take from it what you want, is my thinking – dig into it if it touches you, skip past if it doesn't. The levels are individually numbered and arranged in numbered chapters (thank you!), with easy and tidy introduction of new puzzle mechanics as you progress. All levels can be reset (individually) if you get into a total mess trying to solve the level, and the game autosaves for each level as you progress. Menus are clear and simple. All completed levels can be accessed directly from main menu. Total time depends of course on how fast you “get it” for each level. (My total playtime here at review is for 3 full-on playthroughs plus a * lot * of random replay in smaller chunks). Some levels are easy and will be solved in a couple of minutes or so, by most players. Others are more complex, and then your time will vary a lot depending on if you see the solution fairly quickly, get lucky trying things out, or stay stuck for a long time staring at something while your brain slowly cooks. Situations like that are almost always – “oh, click, of course, how did I not see that before…”. Nothing is needlessly obfuscated or tedious. All solutions are logical. There is supposed to be only 1 solution to each problem. (though at least earlier on there were one or two levels with a possible short-cut that seemed to have slipped through. No biggie though, just a charming pat-yourself-on-the back if you happened across them. IMO. Or may have been eliminated in later patches, idk) No glitches, runs smooth without issues, even on my very basic gear. For anyone of average memory, there is definitely replayability here. It’s faster after first playthrough, of course, but still fun to play imo. Since each level can be accessed directly from main menu, it’s easy to choose just a quick play of one or two levels, or to stay in for longer. To fit into any mood or time at hand. I just really, really love this. And want to share the love around. Please try it! I think you’ll be glad you did…

Somewhat challenging but not incredibly difficult puzzle game. Basically variations on the puzzle where you have to get the fox, goat and bag of corn across a river. But it's more fun than that. The artwork is high quality and adds a fair bit of interest. The story is told in small blocks of text, and centres on loss and acceptance. There is more effort on the atmosphere than in most puzzle games. Certainly worth your time if you like moderate level puzzles. May be frustrating for a casual player as you do have to think. At least one of the achievements is cryptic and hard to do so be warned if you want an easy 100% it may take some work beyond just solving the puzzles.

First of all, it's a puzzle game. Reducing the game to its core, to its playing/game mechanics, the first few levels are nice to play, but nothing innovative at all. Step after step, the difficulty increases, then when you managed to master the first type of challenge, every few levels a new twist is added. (The principle of all the puzzles is some kind of variation of the riddle with the river, the fox, the cabbage, the goose, the farmer and the boat; but in later levels much more complicated and demanding.) This is done so perfectly, that, in fact, the game never gets boring, no, quite the opposite is true, you slowly become addicted: just one more, just one more... If you manage to solve a level, you feel deeply satisfied. So, you have a kind of game, you've probably played many, many times before, but here something rare happened, it is executed just perfect. What makes it escpecially beautiful is the fantastic art style and the surreal "story". This game gives you even more than it might look like to you!

A beautiful little puzzle game, with an emotionally touching narrative accompanying it. The puzzles have appropriate difficulties, the visuals are amazing, the music and sound design is simple but atmospheric, charming and very effective. The only negatives I would say is that some people may consider it too short, some of the achievements have strange requirements and it isn't quite clear how the story fits with the puzzles. I would reccomend it to any fan of puzzle games.

A visually interesting and well designed set of 40 logic puzzles, which almost gets away with teaching the player the game's rules entirely without words. It isn't the most involved puzzle game I've played, but it was nice to play through for the 4 hours it lasted while listening to the game's ambient soundtrack. I found it a really enjoyable bite sized experience and would recommend giving it a look if you enjoy logic puzzles.

Bought it (in sale) for the fascinating visuals, stayed for the rest. It's very good in every aspect: visuals, music, narrative and gameplay. The game is not easy, but with some skill gained from previous levels, some deep cogitation, and a bit of trial-and-error and accustomation to the current level, one can reach the end. The story is interesting, even if, like the rest of the game, it's a bit mysterious and not easy to get at first. In addition, I played the game on two computers on two different places, and thanks to the Steam Cloud support my saves were kept, and the game ran not super smoothly but okay enough on the "not powerful" machine I though would not be able to run this in the first place. Very appreciable.

Pros: +Beautiful artwork +Tight puzzle rules and execution Cons: -I don't like the flat backgrounds mixed with (what appears to be) animated/3D caterpillars -Yes, the puzzles are difficult, but I just didn't feel compelled by the whole thing -I am horribly color blind, and I think the whole mix of bright and sharp colors can be a bit hard on my eyes (maybe it's not a color blind thing, but it's worth mentioning) What can I say - this one just isn't my jam.

She Remembered Caterpillars is a game where you move little characters (of three primary colours) across bridges of their own colour, or through gates not of their own colour. Also you can combine the characters. So in short, it's basically a game about moving boxes through gates that only allow some types of boxes. Who would have thought that a game about moving boxes through gates would be so difficult! And yet that is exactly what She Remembered Caterpillars is; a seriously-difficult permutation puzzler. There is literally no more to say with regards to the gameplay; it is really difficult and the mechanics are really simple. Accompanying the devious puzzles is an extremely rich atmosphere, with absolutely gorgeous art, neat sound design, and an accompanying story about Alzheimer's (or some other degenerative neural disease) told in pieces. (From what I hear, the developers wrote a giant story about it, and then randomly selected 50 or so small passages from that story to put in the game.) I mean, there's really not that much to say about this game. It's really good and I think you should play it if you fancy yourself good at puzzles. Oh, and as much as I hate Rolling Shapes and [strike]Flow[/strike]Soko Match, I wouldn't wish Alzheimer's or dementia upon anyone; not even the developers of those pieces of garbage. (Not like it'd affect the developers of those games either; I'm sure they're probably brain-dead already.)

I completed this game in about four hours. Very nice art, and the music is quite atmospheric. The puzzles are difficult, but not so much that I had to consult a guide. Story-wise, what's there is very poignant, but there's not enough text to properly make sense of the who and when. Recommended at whichever price point is worth four hours to you.
Just awesome!

What I liked
- Difficult puzzles - New logical mechanics introduced frequently (in every act / after a bunch of levels) - Beautiful obscure artworks in comic style - Heartfelt story
What I didn't like
- I didn't completely understand the story, because it is minimalistic, vague and mysterious. The story is a riddle in itself and open for interpretation. I got every achievement and read every text, but don't even know which creatures we're talking about, humans? Insects? Micro Bacteria? I would have liked the story to be more clear and make me understand who "she" is and why "she" remembered caterpillars.
For whom I can suggest this?
If you crave difficult logical puzzles, like beautiful obscure art comic style and don't mind a little disgusting insects and a vague story via text, this is perfect for you.

Neat little puzzle game where colors are the key to solving each map. Guide a number of little creatures through each map towards exit points. Creatures have a specific primary color and you can temporarily combine two of them to form a composite color. Maps have arcs and bridges, both counting as passways for some colors and as obstacles for others. Some obstacles do allow composites to cross over, some required it and others don't allow it at all. The first few maps start out pretty simple. Slowly, new mechanics are introduced and maps get progressively harder. There's a good balance between difficulty and fun. Some maps do require some serious brain racking, especially at the end. Looks good and is fun to play.

Fun puzzle game, gets harder with progress. I like the art style 1 achievement is really stupid tho ://

Plenty of challenging puzzles to work through. The overall look of the game is also pleasantly quirky.
