Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn
This game really isn't good, but it isn't bad either, but for $19.99 it is not worth it. It feels like a game that you'd play on one of those arcade machines in the movie theater for a few quarters but with some graphical improvements to account for when it was released. The humor is a bright spot, Shaq is a funny guy and I think his sense of humor really comes out in the game. But, the gameplay isn't nearly compelling enough - it's good that the game isn't too long because it would become absolutely exhausting if it were much longer. I'd say maybe if you're a Shaq fan or a fan of these arcade-type brawler games then give it a shot when it's under $10, otherwise just pass on this one. Not Recommended

I didn't give this much of a chance when it was announced. Like others, I hated Shaq Fu and wondered why in the world they decided to bring it back. But it was available for a dollar so I figured why the hell not. But the game is actually pretty entertaining. Its silly, offensive, funny and batshit crazy. If you're sense of humor is slanted toward the dry, dark and offensive side you'll probably enjoy this. The animated cutscenes are fun to watch too. Yeah a couple of memes are outdated, and the combat is mostly button mashing, but the real star is how stupid and ridiculous everything is. And it pulls it off. The two product placements fit perfectly and were really funny. Plus the main theme sound sounds like he says "rip some ass".

As much as i love the game as a Meme, as a Videogame for the price of 20$ it ain't worth it. I finished the game in 2 hours and not even Shaqs funny quotes could save this game. The fighting is so repetitve and the enemies are mostly just reskins from each other. The game spams you with enemies to make it harder but that just makes it more annoying. Sorry Shaq.

I've been waiting for this game since last year and I am no disappointed with it. It's funny, a good meme, and enjoyable. The story line is the best part, a 7'1" black guy named Shaquille thinks he's chinese just that part makes me LMFAO XDDDDDDD. Also the fact that as a child his mom put him in a bag, filled it with bricks and then threw him into a river. This game is amazing 10/10 and I wouldn't be suprised if it was GOTY.

As a non-player of the original masterpiece known as Shaq-Fu, I do not know if this holds a candle to it. The gameplay isn't the greatest but it gets the job done. Story/ jokes are great if you havent had them spoiled jokes are usually 1 pump chumps. Overall Size 22 Shoes/ 10 Big Shaq/ Regular Shaq The hard difficulty just buffs the damage you take and buff enemies health. Still dumb as rocks but its a beat em up who cares.

A pretty standard beat-em-up. It's a fun time, but it is very short, which is the only real issue with the title. It probably isn't worth $20, but if it's ever on sale, I'd pick it up. The gameplay isn't anything astonishing, but it's fun. The moments where you become "powered up" are probably the best moments of the game. It's for sure better than the original Shaq-Fu, and it's also better because the game is fully voiced with Shaquille O'Neal filled cutscenes. If you love Shaq, you'll love this game. It's also pretty funny too, and a lot of the characters are parodies of celebrities, which were pretty well done. I also enjoyed the final level music. I only experienced really one bug, where it stuck on the loading screen for like five minutes and I figured it wasn't working right so I had to forcefully close out of the game, other than that, it was a pretty flawless experience. If you like Shaq and Beat-Em-Ups, then this game is for you.

I had high hopes for this game. I thought it'd be a self-aware, tongue-in-cheek play on the infamy of the original while still being competent in its own right. Instead I got a barely playable side-scroller with brutally repetitive gameplay whose idea of difficulty is 'filling the screen with dozens of generic enemies at once'. The animated cutscenes are impressive but the rest of the game feels horribly rushed, and that's before I get to the attempts at humour. In short it's all lowest-common-denominator stuff, clinging to vapid pop culture references in order to avoid saying anything original. When it does make jokes it's to poke fun at things like race or gender in ways that would barely have been acceptable ten years ago. tl;dr At first I laughed with the game. Then I laughed AT it. Then I realised it wasn't very funny after all.

Target Audience: Shaq. Only Shaq. No one else. Summary: An abomination of beat em ups, Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn quickly wears you down with attempts of humor that hit the mark once in a blue moon, and then make you wonder what the hell the writers were attempting to joke about in the next breathe. Granted, you'll get shock value out of the reveals in the game here and there, but a lot of the dialogue is cringeworthy in a bad way: the type where you feel sorry for the game and can't even laugh at it. But despite a presentation that's passable in the gameplay side of things and cutscenes that are actually well done from an art perspective, Shaq-Fu truly fails when it comes to gameplay. The simple beat em up runs out of tricks quickly despite some early enemy variety. The game's simple combo system can't keep you entertained because it's just beating up the same types of enemies, despite minor differences, over and over again. Sure, you'll run into an enemy that you can't dash into for example, but he won't feel like he's much different from any other enemy that you face. It doesn't help that the combos are too simple and don't have any complex interactions with them, other then, beat the shit out of opponent. Even when the game tries to mix things up with a dance off section or suit gameplay, it feels hollow as it's the most boring versions of those elements and sometimes don't even match to the actions that you are doing. The worst part about Shaq-Fu is that it wastes your time by repeating sections over and over again, especially in the last two levels of the game. Hell, the game knows this and tries to make fun of it, but ultimately proves the point when it immediately goes back to not even trying to keep things fresh. It drags and drags and drags. Yes, some people don't want a short game, even those this game can be beaten in two and a half hours. But when getting through the last hour is like getting through a CSPAN senate hearing, somethings terribly terribly wrong. This is the kind of game where it's not even worth looking at. Sure, there's a shock factor at times and there are elements to the game that do work, but the sheer lack of fun kills the game before it can even get off the ground. There's tons of much better Beat Em Ups out there, and Shaq-Fu pulled a J.R. Smith. It didn't even show up when it was game time. Video Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJTYePUKq4M Lists: Positives:

Once in a while, a clever reference finds its way into the game, such as the China's overpopulation joke at the start of the game. A lot of them are hidden in the environment, definitely making it worth searching them out.
The art in the cutscenes in particular is rather well done and stands out a bit compared to other games in the genre.
Shaq's voice is iconic and does at least add something to the game.
The game definitely has a WTF element to it for those wanting that.
It has controller support? I mean, I really digging for positives here.
Negatives:

Too simple gameplay for the length of the game here. Within 15 minutes, you get almost 95% of what the game has to show you.
The suits (Diesel, Cactus) turn the game into a mindless bore, and don't make the game more fun.
The repetition. The repetition. The repetition. Did I get the point across about repetition? When the game makes a meta joke about the gameplay getting stale from a repetitive standpoint....and then does the same thing over again, you know something's wrong.
There seems to be missing sound assets during specific attacks, and once in a while the music seemingly just dropped off the face of the earth.
Some of the interactions with characters are off, leaving weird animations and being awkward for all.
The game feels slow in a lot of cases, and while the enemies match your speed for the most part, I wish the game didn't match Shaq's speed in real life. Because it's painfully slow at times.
Level Length is way too long, and drags out the game to try to get 2 and a half hours. Hm, just more then the length of refunds on Steam. I wonder why that could be.
Boss design is lazy most of the time, barely going over one or two attacks that are easy to dodge most of the time.
Reused models for “new” enemies has RUSHED written all over it
The whole last two levels and everything about them, but their attempts at meta humor in particular. They feel so......off.
Random “insta-kill” moments that your character gets actually hurts the strategy portion as like I said, it's completely random. It could put you into a dangerous situation not of your own doing, and without you feeling like you were the reason they happened, don't give any satisifaction.
The skill element of the game doesn't exist, even at hard difficulty. Or barely does, compared to fighting games of the past.
You sit there asking why a lot of the time. Why are these bodies so misshappened? Why did that insta-kill me? Why am I still playing. These are not the questions the game should be getting you to ask.
Shaq's sponsorships with things like Gold-Bond attempt to get plugged in cleverly in the game, but fall flat and make you feel like it's more interested in getting you to buy them then entertain you.
Some of the sound design gets overshadowed very quickly by the music. They don't work well together.
There are some bad textures, especially in the background.
Voice acting at times absolutely does not match the body/character that's being portrayed. Like not even in a parody way: it's downright cringe at times.
Pricing questions, but this is a less of a PC problem. Why does the game cost twice as much on the Switch for the physical version? I have no idea. The lord is my shepherd I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yeay, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil For thou art with me Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life And I will dwell in the house of the shaqtus forever.

I have to say, for the price of the game, it's worth it. Nice side scrolling game. Reminds me of the old SEGA side scrolling game. Funny story, funny characters, good (but not the good) gameplay and a game that doesn't take itself so serious during the game play. I would recommend this game becuase of the funny story, the low pricing and characters in the game. Hope to see a sequel in the future.

This is just a fun little arcade beat-'em-up, looks good, sounds good, plays fine. Yes the action is repeative... but so is the action in X-Men the Arcade Game. Is the pop culture references dated... yes.... is the humour going to make the political correct spawn of yuppies cry... yes. I enjoyed the game for what it was. Now that said... the $19.99 price tag... is a bit stiff... I can understand why it's that high, because Shaq himself did voice work for the game and well... dude's gotta get paid. I would reccomend waiting to get this game during a sale.

A sequel to one of the most hated and universally panned games ever made? What could possibly go right? Well, as it turns out, a lot. This game is not anything amazing in terms of gameplay or graphics. It's your simple beat'em up, but it has a lot going for it. For starters, the game is down right hilarious with all the jokes it pulls and references it has. While the game play is very simple, it never comes off as boring, as the large variety of enemies require you to adopt new strategies and styles. While it's not going to change the face of gaming or anything like that, the fact that a sequel to one of the worst games ever made and actual is pretty good says a lot. If you're a fan of beat'em up game like double dragon, I say give this one a shot. You may find the game to be as surprising as I did.

WARNING! If you are looking to play the DLC: Barack Fu the Adventures of Dirty Barry. You must buy a physical version of this game! I was looking for it when I bought here off steam but oh well, a really fun game and funny game aswell, I would wait for it to be on sale before you buy this. The only negitive thing I can say is that the music is a bit quite by defult, which is a shame because the music is espically fantastic when fighting bosses.

A great beat 'em up experience. The music and anitmation of this game is good enough to hold its own. Satire at it's best. I can't wait for the DLC to come ou!!
