The many villains from the Multiverse have been bested by the Freedom Five or Dark Watch or the Prime Wardens or even heroes not from a particular team. Many of those villains are prideful and would not deign to work with others, as their goals would not align. However, some of them have seen the value of cooperating towards a common goal. And those have joined forces, even at cross purposes, to defeat the heroes who have harried them for so long.

Some of these villains, such as Plague Rat or Biomancer, are more hesitant to work with other villains. Whereas others, such as Citizens Hammer & Anvil or Sergeant Steel, are more than happy to join forces with other like-minded combatants.

Villains of the Multiverse is a mega-expansion for Sentinels of the Multiverse. It uses the villain team gameplay style introduced in Sentinels of the Multiverse: Vengeance to group villains together as a team fighting against the hero team. Villains of the Multiverse includes ten villains, which can be faced in any configuration, as well as four exciting new environments.

This is my least favorite expansion for my all time favorite boardgame. At a glance getting a whole bunch of new villians in one expansion is a nice idea. However they are restricted to the team format and the previous expansion already gave us the 3v3 4v4 5v5 format that imo just adds more micromanagement while shorting the actual number of turns each player (or hero) gets and generally drags down game without introducing anything positive aside from fresh faces. It's the only expansion I would recommend skipping btw. I love the game I just don't think this one is worth it personally. I was as disappointed with the carboard tabletop copy of this and the digital format is no different. I guess I would technically put this down as no recommend UNLESS you own absolutely every other expansion and want to give it a spin.

If you like the team vs team format introduced in Vengeance, then this is a must have. The new villains are amazingly fun, and some are super cooky. However, if you prefer the solo villain experience, then this expansion is not for you unless you are willing to pay 8 bucks for 4 new environments. That being said, the environments are fun and worth it. I personally don't play the team vs team format a whole bunch, but do like the additional villain options, as well as thoroughly enjoy the new environments. Overall I'd recommend, but if money is tight and you don't like team vs. team, hold off until this is on sale.

Villains of the Multiverse adds a new game mode, 10 new villains, and 4 new environments to the very fun and successful Sentinels of the Multiverse base game. Instead of 3-5 heroes vs. 1 villian it's now an even match. Three to five villains can join together and you must pit a team of the same number of heroes to try and defeat them. The environment is still a factor along with the normal amount of plays each villain can use per turn. I find the base game hard enough so VOTM was definitely not a cake walk and I got smoked on my first time playing through the new game mode. Finding the right heroes to have their powers work in tandem and keep your heroes turn alive is crucial to outlasting the villain squad you chose. While some may not like it, Villains of the Multiverse is a great addition to #SentinelsGame https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t--G-6skq2k&t=25s

Aight, so I know a lot of people are complaining about the villains. That's fair, I never really cared for the Team villain mode. However, I would like to point out two things. 1st is that the environments are mostly pretty cool. Temple and Magmaria are my favorites here, and Court is not bad. 2nd, and more important, is that a LOT of variants need this expansion to be unlocked. S&D Benchmark, Stuntman, 2 of the Xtreme Prime Wardens and one or two others I can't think of have to have this expansion to be unlocked (properly anyways. Only CHEATERS don't do the story challenge). So, I would put a maybe if I could, but overall, the environments keep it from being terrible.
