IMHO this is the best bow and arrow game for the Vive with a very active and responsive developer. The free alpha was better than most paid games for months and I'm glad it finally hit Early Access. Bow mechanics are fantastic, the gameplay with adjusting difficulty level, multiple types of enemies, various power ups, items to collect are all top notch. Graphics are very good with artists from some of the well known AAA studios providing the art work. Great for both solo and co-op. I can't recommend this one enough.

Considering how many hours I got out of the demo this was a day one purchase. Highly recommended, though your arms will ache. End up playing shirtless since it really is a work out and this does have the side effect of my wife coming up to grab me and bite me. She tells me she likes to watch me play and now wants me to take up archery. Highly recommended

I am obsessed with this game. I own a bow but don't shoot that often. The slight vibration in the controllers makes it feel like I'm actually drawing the bow. You can feel the tension in the bow and feel when you have drawn the bow far enough for your shot .Slightly twisting either of your hands changes how your arrow flies. To move you shoot an arrow through a blue check point. It can be a little off setting but there's a clear direction your pov will be. I have only played a couple days and haven't had much multi-player voice chat but so far my experience has been fluid whether or not I could hear other players. There's bow and arrow games out there for sure. I love the multi-player action. If I want to defend the wall, hold mid, or snipe it's all an option. Grabbing arrows from your quiver can be a little derpy. I'm just opening boosts and gear upgrades. Overall if you want to play a bow and arrow shooter I definitely reccomend it.

I want more gear. I want more levels. i want more bosses. i want more skills. I want all these things because the game is already amazing. When i can dump 8 hours into a full roomscale game and still feel like i want so much more of it. Being a big fan of rpg's and playing diablo II and wow for years i wanted a vr game with loot, spells, bosses, dungueons progresison... this has that and the developer updates almost daily it is incredible. Buy this game!!! If you, like me, check out the negative reviews before you purchase, make sure to see just how many updates have been released since there has been a bad review. at this time there has been well over 20 updates since the last negative review.

It's a fun game but it gets repetitive pretty quickly and there isn't really any sense of progression past the first few play throughs. I will say that the bow mechanics are fantastic, and shooting felt great! As it is still in EA it's one to watch, and maybe to grab if it goes on a good sale, but in its current state the price is hard to justify.

I have followed this game since it was a single tower and a weird ass array of monsters. Since it's inception this game has gone from strengths to strengths and is to this day is one of my absolute fav VR games. If you want to know what it's like and how it plays now and how much fun you can have with friends, here's me and my mate playing it (only a 10 min vid) https://youtu.be/Zb7sUyRw9Ug Keep making amazing work Blueteak!!!!!!

EDIT: Just so it is clear, the developers ARE ACTIVE and ARE UPDATING THE GAME. Pretty important to point out considering the derth of early access cash grabs for VR. This seems to be a game that is actually undergoing improvements. =========================================== Okay, let's get the bad things out of the way first: 1) It seems to be one level total, with 4 "areas" inside the level, so it can get repetative simply because the scenery remains the same throughout. It's early access, so hopefully that will change. 2) Some strange things can happen when you use a teleport arrow in the wrong place... 3) Pulling the string back to the side of your face sometimes results in the arrow jittering, making it hard to aim as if it were a real bow and arrow. That's it. So on to the good. The aiming mechanics are top-notch (ha! puns!), and the rumble effects from the vive controllers makes it feel like you are pulling a string, throwing a bomb, releasing an arrow, or grabbing an arrow. Arrows fly in what feels like a natural flight path, and it's consistent, so you learn quickly how they fly and how they land. The hit detection is very well done, such that I know it's my fault when I miss, not the game's. The music is repetative, but not annoying, and it changes up during boss battles, giving you that extra bit of tension (more puns!). The graphics are superb, even if you turn some things down to maintain a good FPS rate. The items you unlock during play actually add to the gameplay, with teleportation arrows, scatter arrows, proximity mines, time-slowing grenades, fire grenades, and more available as the game progresses. The enemies vary well enough that as the level gets progressively harder, the enemies become more varied (fog, speed, bombs, teleporting, and launching mortars at you and your team). The landscape may be the same old level, but the fighting never seems to get old. Multiplayer is hands down the best part of the game, as with a group, it becomes much quicker to get to the higher (and more intense) parts of the level. Plus, it's super weird and fun to wave to people who aren't really in your room with you and have them wave back. To top it all off, if you get some 1-3lbs wrist weights, this game ends up being one hell of a workout, which is pretty cool considering how fun it is. 10/10 would shoot alien orcs in the face again.

My favorite VR game hands down. Great bow mechanics, well thought out game play with a vibrant multi-player experience make this game an almost daily enjoyment for me. An great game to play with friends. Multiplayer is functional and quite intense in later stages. It can also be a half decent workout if you play for a while with the repetivive movements, maybe attach some weights to your hands and have at it! But overall a fun game. It's a little barebones at the moment but it is growing rapidly and the devs are attentive and passionate. Highly recommend supporting them and having fun shooting evil baddies.

My opinion: Best VR archery game currently on the market. Its like VR tower defense, but you and your friends are the towers (with bows). Pro: - Very good gameplay and haptics - Balanced difficulty, not too easy. - Interesting enemies - Nice graphics - Very good multiplayer - Continuous developement, you can feel improvement with every update. - Has a demo (Thank you for this! Its not very common in recent times) Contra: - Sometimes a bit frustrating for beginners in singleplayer due to difficult enemies. (Training helps a lot!)´ - Tutorial explains the basics, but no word about the defense mechanics, nor about enemies and crafting/loot. - Some bugs here and there, but thats what early access is for. Absolutely worth it! (Played it on Oculus)

It is a good game that usually has people playing for the multiplayer. Its only problem is the repetitiveness of it. Monsters spawn and you kill them before they get to the gate until you can advance to the next gate. The game is good, but needs more game modes and maps to keep it engaging.

So many updates and changes it's almost difficult to say it's even the same game as it was when I first started playing in early access almost a year ago. Still, it's the best archery based VR game I've played and the developer is top notch at addressing bugs and implementing improvements. A must-have for any VR library

QuiVR. As a new user for Windows MR I had seen this with interest and downloaded the demo. My wife also like archery games after playing "the Lab" and "Nvidia funhouse" so we downloaded the demo for QuiVR. We loved it, very fun, great graphics, fantastic bow mechanics, no tracking problems at all. We decided to buy the game - BOOM! We fired it up and to our suprise the demo seemed it was a MUCH earlier version of this full download of the game, the graphics were better, the bow mechanics had IMPROVED, it was even better gameplay - happy days Sadly being a bit on the older side, we dont get to play much, but we racked up over 2 hours one night over the weekend (a massive amount for us), we loved it. Well worth the money and cant wait for the game to be updated further and hopefully find some more time to pour into it. p.s. After our "Marathon" game night we both woke up with very sore arms, was like a workout! - even better! Thanks Blueteak!

This is my go-to VR game. It's a perfect mix of exercise, quick play sessions, socializing, long-term progression, and a little bit of randomness. I'm always in the mood for a 20 minute showdown in QuiVR. Going headstrong into a game with strong teammates equipped with diverse items feels like something out of "Ready Player One". The game has premade tile sections, that are randomly stitched together. The "event" tiles add a wonderful spice of variety so you're not always shooting hordes of enemies. The game also allows you to progress over many hours by receiving a specialized mask, chest plate, quiver, arrow, glove, or bomb item at the end of each run. The developer is very active -- always adding wildly new kinds of tiles, or refining the gameplay. I took a break from VR for several months, and the game has undergone a makeover now that I got back into it.

just picked up this game a couple days ago. knew absolutely nothing about it. just saw it on steam as i was browsing thru VR games. (i just got the vive like 2 weeks ago) I have to say... It might possibly be my favorite VR game yet. the physics feels very natural. knocking an arrow and firing at the invaders is very satisfying. especially when you hit them from a far distance. The gear progression system seems fluid and natural. the boss fights at the ends of the waves can be challenging for a group. the player interaction is hilarious in multiplayer. I waved at a guy as he loaded in a knocked an arrow and he stumbled to wave back as he drops his arrow on the ground. both of us looked down at the arrow and both just died laughing. its so fun and enjoyable. I highly recommend this game to anyone just looking for a fun archery shooter. PS. ive never written a review for a game before if that tells you how much i enjoy this game that i did this.

A fun archery game that will have you teleporting around the battlefield mowing down enemies. The performance is absolutely atrocious though. After a few waves I'm barely holding 30fps which is inexcusable for my 2080 super. I even tried turning SS down to 90%

    Sep 21, 2020

I want QuiVR to be good, I waited a few years for it to come out of early access, and sadly it might be the best archery simulator, but I still cannot recommend it because there's so many issues that hold it back. To start I want to shout out top players rett and Brookcowboy for playing with me and being nice showing a newer player the ropes. These guys have 400+ hours in QuiVR and I'm really glad this game has enough end-game content that it can deliver to those dedicated players. My biggest tripping point that I have to get off my chest before anything else is not being able to turn incrementally and having to spin 360 in my room and then hit my chair and walls when I have to draw the bow in an unexpected direction. There is no excuse for not having a 45/90 degree incremental turn functionality. QuiVR has solid archery mechanics, provided that you can get the offset right to start since there are three sliders (horizontal, vertical, and angle) that could be messed up and make it feel like garbage, but once those feel right the bow mechanics are good and you better enjoy them or else this game is gonna get old real fast because you're gonna be shooting thousands of arrows and doing nothing else. There is no prediction or guide to help so all your shots are free aim, so you've really gotta get that muscle memory and hand eye coordination to even get past the first few enemies. At its core QuiVR is a wave shooter but the waves are coming at a stationary gate and you can move between set spots in the valley, but the reason this is frustrating is that these spots always have a blind spot so if there is an enemy right below you about to reach your gate and you can't get a line on it or missed your window of opportunity you have to teleport to a further spot (by shooting an arrow at it which you can also spend quite a few shots failing at) to even continue aiming at it. It is because of this that the skill curve is very steep requiring the skill to shoot the small moving targets with no guide before you can even get to the first boss. The bosses are the most exciting part of this game, but sadly they are a prime example of something that is a pain point throughout this game: no hints at what you're supposed to be doing. There are so many times even in menus or the gear upgrade system where I don't even know what button I'm supposed to push to activate the upgrade or where I get an item reward and it says right in front of me "would you like to equip? - Yes - No" and I can't even get the popup to disappear clicking every button over Yes but nothing in response. Back to the bosses, I've seen so many requests for help on the bosses like "what the hell am I even supposed to do here?" my experience with a Tremors style earth worm would have been fantastic if it was clear that the obscured red circles near the ground are the things to shoot at instead of the big spears sticking out of his face that are similar to the weak points of another boss. Similar to this I finally found a post about the new "elite" system from 10/19/18 that says hey watch out elites can now have modifiers, but there is no explanation of that in the game. I am a huge fan of exploration in games but I'm shooting at these enemies and the arrows are bouncing off, being sent flying in random directions and occasionally those thrown off arrows are hitting portals super far away that I can't even get back to the fight because I can't hit the portals to take me back and my run is over because of it. There needs to be a minimal amount of info at least when presented with new obstacles. My final qualm is the gear system. It definitely works if you are a dedicated player coming back for days and weeks to this game, but it does not feel respectful of the player's time to me. Each run you can get random gear and points and can spend those points in a lotto style gear upgrade system, but getting good gear and rolling good upgrades takes hours worth of grinding, so if you enjoy the game this will add replayability but unless you have done this don't expect to make it very far in the game once certain enemies show up that you have no option of even damaging because they will spit your arrows right back at you and its game over.
