I did not enjoy myself at any point while playing. It lacks a lot of the soul and character the past games in the series had.

Imagine getting a deal between the biggest movie franchise in history and one of the most famous fighting game devs in history and dropping the ball this hard. The guys who designed the battle system did a good job, there's a good tag game in here. But it's buried underneath awful graphics, presentation, and music, a terrible story, and a hilariously bad roster. Breaks my heart to hit that thumbs down.

Well, there is nothing particularly bad but at the same time nothing amazing either, I would not recommend buying this title full price like I did, the game before this one in my opinion has a better rooster, its much more fun to play and the art style (subjective opinion) looks much better, this sequel was a big let down, cant be bother to play more than few matches sadly, I really wanted to like this title since I am a big fan of the franchise.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is neither an incomplete game nor has little content Rather, the constructive negligence and disregard for the audience's needs has made the game a mediocre effect in the fighting style. Although the game has a fast and exciting campaigning system But the excessive simplicity of using combos has eroded the boundary between recognizing a novice and professional player. However, if you're a fan of Marvel characters and you're merely going to play with your friends and have fun, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite game can keep you entertained for a while + Strengths - Fast and exciting fights - Great music and soundtrack - Different environments - Good artificial intelligence - weak points - Very poor design of game characters - Low number of characters - Soulless and not very attractive story - Bad quality of online servers - Excessive simplicity of the combo system - Unbalanced game characters

As the final game (currently as of this review) in the highly esteemed, praised, and much beloved fighting game franchise known only as the

    Marvel Vs.

series, it pains me that the last game in the franchise is this abomination.

    The Good :

-Large roster of characters, many returning favorites from previous games as well as many news ones -Large potential for multiple team compositions due to the large character roster -Beautiful particle effects in regards to the energy attacks from the characters -An interesting re-imagining of the Gem System from 1995's

    Marvel Super Heroes.

    The Mediocre :

-Most of the new characters are mostly all Avengers (MCU) themed characters -Stages are beautiful but not particularly engaging or exciting to see -Still some extremely popular Capcom characters not represented, while some lesser popular characters are brought back (Such as Nathan Spencer's Bionic Commando). -Combo system is very much a "1-touch kill" in design -The Ultron-Sigma final boss is nicely designed, but is otherwise forgettable.

    The Bad :

-Victory animations are clearly unfinished, with characters still moving their mouths yet no audio is present. The game itself feels incomplete, and clearly shows signs of being rushed -Terrible artistic direction, bringing these characters to a hyper-realstic direction instead of the significantly preferred healthy medium of anime-comic-booky art-style from it's previous entry -Laughably terrible and long story-mode -Horrible voice-acting from the entirety of the roster; Only the Capcom side can be switched to Japanese, forcing players to have to stomach the awful Marvel voice-acting.

    In Conclusion :

Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is the swan song of an otherwise wonderful series, and it breaks my heart to see it reduced to

    this.

This is it. It came out somewhere between Ant-Man and End-Game, as you can see." *lowers microphone; visibly inhales* "I mean-" *audibly exhales* "Yea, I guess. I just-uh... Sure." *lowers microphone; steps away* *backpedal, grabs microphone aggressively* "But it should be illegal."

Was heavily disappointed on how Capcom is holding back content of the game through DLC. Most if not all characters in the first DLC pass look phenomenal, while the rest of the cast in the standalone game were poorly designed and feel rushed. They do not deserve the full price tag for this game and I will wait until the game is lowered to an appropriate price. Playing through story and seeing Monster Hunter and and Black Panther was cool, till i realized that I have to shell out 30$ to access them. I don't want to support their laziness and already requested a refund. The gameplay however is great. I just dont understand how they managed to totally butcher the artstyle. Edit: Couldn't get refund due to too much playtime. Forgot to realize that I needed to have under 2 hours played. I honestly didn't know the requirements for the refund policy because I never actually felt the need to try to a game before on steam.

First and foremost, the game is fun, the "functions" is the reason to play this game. *And what I mean by functions is the gameplay, the way there's "organised chaos" that's happening on the screen. You're pulling off a combo, calling in your partner, who does a long string combo and then calling back in your original/starting character. During this entire string of combos, your opponent either spends 2 bars to call in their partner to help stop the combo but is prone to getting caught in it as well. ** What got to me was when Combofiend mentioned why there was no Magneto and it was all just a function that they could bake into another character who would now be able to triangle jump or dash the way that Magneto did. Wait... if you're gonna do that, why not just scrap the whole MvC and just do something else using said functions??? The rest, is just sh!t. The character models look horrendous for a game that costs this much and also with DLC coming along. The game feels clunky/cumbersome. Going from UMVC3 to this game feels like you're weighted down and just doesn't feel smooth. *I had my brother bring his PS4 over and we had a jam on both MVC:I and UMVC3, the difference is night and day. If only Capcom had given the time to fix up UMVC3, like balancing, that would've been better than this garbage. If anything, Capcom should have reduced the cost of this game, maybe half price and then milk out the DLC, since they just loooove them DLC! Then maybe there wouldn't be too many complaints. Maybe... *ONLINE IS DEAD! Edit: asteriks have been placed where I have made an update regarding this review and I still stand by this review, this was a waste of money. Get into Tekken 7 everyone, the online community is still striving.

Jeez, where to start? I'll adress some of the critiques I've read in the reviews so far. Confirmed: - Looks unfinished. (boring menus devoid of ANY of MvC's usual flair) - Backgrounds are lifeless. (very untraditional for this franchise) - Music (Is there any? I can't remember...not a good sign) - Mechanics (gotta bring in the casual gamers, I get it) The Roster: I purchased Injustice 2, on PS4, which came with a very good starting roster and is only getting better as new toons drop. This game, the starting roster is ok, not great, not good, just ok. I'm hoping the toons to come may help this situation. No X-Men: You can thank lawyers and licences for this. As long as Fox Entertainment holds the movie rights to the X-Men and Fantastic 4, don't expect Disney/Marvel to allow ANY kind of promotion of those characters on their part. What may have gone wrong?: Disney's true face is begining to show as they begin to push their greed and ideologies on us all. My guess is Disney charged way too much to licence their characters. (Notice how Rocket Racoon and Groot are represented by their movie likeness because they aren't real people, whereas Gamora does not look like the actress who protrayed her...that would cost more than Capcom could afford.) My guess is the game looks like this due to Capcom needing to reduce staff (animators are always first to go), probably demanding lots of unpaid overtime, all due to Disney's greedy prices for their licences, all resulting in the lack luster quality of this product. Conclusion: I'll be keeping this game, but purley from a market research perspective. If you want a good game, my suggestion, play Injustice 2. It's great. It beats this game in EVERY category. This game is in NO WAY near worth the asking price.

I hate that this game is so good. The marketing team failed them in every way, the roster is pretty small and man staring close at some things you can see the cracks. But holy fuck; PLAYING IT? its a blast. comebacks are common, combos are fluid and reward imagination; and you can get really good damage for very simple combos. Support it please; if you can. I know this isnt a great sell, but this game is honestly a ton of fun and with time might become one of my favorite games ive ever played. EDITED AFTER RECENT UPDATES: So; honestly? I love this game even more now. The only real negative I have to offer is that the DLC is overpriced. That IS a negative; but everything i said before is still true, and with major balancing isues fixed, like reality stone spam and thorn carpet shenanigans, this game has plenty to offer in terms of unique teams.

Don't waste your money on this game. It's already discounted for 33% off because of poor sales; but if you want the full game you'll need to drop a ridiculous amount of money on DLC anyway, so what the discount actually saves you is closer to 2%. Gameplay: The game is actually pretty fun. They dumbed down some of the controls from previous installments, but it adds a new instant tag out system and still boasts an extraordinary amount of depth. Unfortunately, not all of the new inclusions are as fun in higher level play. The instant tag out system makes it so you're always safe no matter what you do, and playing against strategies that abuse this (every strategy) can be really frustrating. Push blocking is extremely important in this game, as every team can put you in infinite block-strings, and perform infinite mixups without ever giving you a chance to punish. Some pro games seemingly consist almost exclusively of mashing the tag out button. This isn't very fun to play or watch in my opinion. I'm certainly not a pro player so take the above with a grain of salt; it's just my experience with the game and watching a few tournaments. Story Mode: The "story mode" is a joke. It's bad fanfiction at best. It lasts a few hours, and 80% of that time is either watching garbage cut-scenes or playing against rinse and repeat "ultron bots" or "corrupted asgardians." On top of that, just to mess with us, you can plainly see the finished DLC character models in story cut-scenes that you'll need to spend another $40 to actually unlock. Online: The online mode is mediocre, and barely anyone has the game, so finding a match can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few dozen minutes. It has decent netcode, but disconnects make you wait 2-3 minutes staring at a frozen screen, and then treat the game as though it didn't happen. This really gets frustrating as people have DC'd right before losing in around 10 of my matches thus far (That's around 30 minutes of doing nothing). The "ranking" system is also terrible. It goes from 15 to 1. There are no meaningful rewards. Mission/ Practice Mode: Mission mode is there and offers 10 missions per character. It's not bad, but around half of the missions involve tag combos, sometimes teaching you nothing about your character. The practice mode is there and it has what you'd expect; you can queue for online while in practice mode. DLC: No surprise here; content is blatantly ripped out of the core game so they can sell it to us as character/costume packs for ridiculous prices at a later date. They really have absolutely no respect for their customers at all. Voice acting/ Character models/ Game presentation: Some of the character models in this game are disgusting. The game itself looks like it belongs on mobile. The voice acting makes playing certain characters impossible (Monster Hunter). Animations are recycled from previous games, but instead of recycling quality voice acting, they hire a bunch of homeless people to redo it. Pros: - Fun game - Decent online netcode Cons: - Mechanics are easily abusable - Everything else about online sucks - Nobody plays the game - It's overpriced - DLC ripped out of base game - Half the character models look like trash - Most of the voice acting is terrible - Bad story mode - No X-Men - No Vergil - No Wesker - No Doctor Doom This review is biased, and you can probably tell I'm salty. I regret buying this game; my nostalgia got the better of me.

TL;DR: A fun, yet disappointing game with a questionable future that at the end of the day does disservice to both Marvel and Capcom brands. The Marvel vs. Capcom series is one that I hold dear in my heart. And this game's gameplay is a deserving continuation of that series' tradition of fun, frantic and chaotic fighters with immense depth. Unfortunately it would be remiss of me to recommend this game in its current form, at its current price, even with the current discount at the time of this writing. The game just simply doesn't have anything besides its gameplay, with a lacklustre cast of characters mostly imported from Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, tremendously disappointing and at times just plain ugly graphics that pale in most regards with its predecessor, mediocre soundtrack with a complete disregard to the series' legacy and some remixes that are... not good and questionable at best UX decisions, with menus that appear to be placeholders and yet still somehow manage to cause lag. But perhaps worse than all of that is the dearth of modes. Getting content from this game is like attempting to get blood from a stone. Besides the badly plotted, acted and presented Story Mode (which does a disservice to both Marvel and Capcom characters, despite a few amusing bits) the game just has a bad Arcade Mode with no care put into it (no endings or transitions between the boss stages, just loading screens), which they were very proud to tout in promotional materials due to the backlash against Street Fighter V's lack of any such modes; a mission mode, which like any Capcom mission mode consists of just mostly impractical and annoying combos to perform and a tiny tutorial that really teaches nothing; a versus computer mode that has no way to just watch computer opponents duke it out; and a rudimentary versus mode where player 2 can't even select rematch, despite them perfecting the rematch screen last generation and nobody liking the "thumbs up" method in Street Fighter V, to the point where the most recent revision of that game actually gets rid of that. It would be unfair to not mention the online modes: online battle with ranked, a smartly put together beginners league and a robust lobby system round out the game... or would if there was anyone playing online. Which there isn't. The game tends to average out just a teensy bit more players than the PC release of its 2011 predecessor. Those aren't good numbers. And even if you're looking for a more competitive experience or a game that will eventually improve.... well you might want to look elsewhere or at least hold off on a purchase. While majors keep getting people, minor tournaments are all but dying out. And while the game has received more support than any other game in the series (read: more than none) there is currently no guarantee that there will be more especially with how it disappointed in sales and how Capcom (and Marvel) has been treating it like an afterthought, with a badly managed tournament series that was seemingly done out of contractual obligation and with far fewer entrants than would be expected from a major Capcom release. At this point Capcom is at a place where they can safely drop the game with no outstanding promises, even assuming that Marvel allows them to renew their license after the lacklustre sales, one of the things that damned Marvel Heroes and led to it shutting down (that and the controversy behind its CEO, but mostly the former, according to former employees at Gazillion). This is of course, not even mentioning how lacklustre support for this game on PC has been, with DLC released consistently late and people who bought the character passes receiving the characters later than everyone else, and consistent bugs related to VSync that have yet to be solved, as well as lack of visual options and incompatibility with borderlesss windowed mode. I cannot overstate how much this game is lacking the graphics department as well, with a few okay lighting and particle effects but horrendous, outsourced models with little consistency, bad rigging, terrible proportions and weirdly janky animations, as well as many returning characters losing effects for their special moves causing them to make less sense (Doctor Strange's lvl 3 Hyper), lose impact (Haggars hypers) or just look worse (Ghost Rider's Lvl 3). All this in addition to the honestly overpriced DLC and the lack of Fight Money system, so everything must be purchased with real money, makes it so that this game's value proposition is bad even under these sales. If you are definitely looking to buy this game, perhaps wait for renewed support confirmation or try the PS4 version, if you really want the online experience. Just, keep in mind that even the PS4 version's online community isn't that active. I bought this game full price at release. Don't be like me.

Unfortunately my time of writing this mayt be too much too late. The steam community for this game is basically dead and the online is almost non-existent. So why write this review? Because I enjoy how the game plays. Yes, the roster is unfortunate. Yes, the game has been essentially given up on by the team responsible. YES, if you were looking forward to the next Ultimate MvC this is NOT IT. But I'm really liking this game and darn it I want to learn to be better and I wanted a review that wasn't ruined by judgement about all the things the game ISN'T and was never intended to be. The game is FUN guys. I love the X-men like anyone else who grew up with these games and the comics, the tv-shows, etc. So if you're wondering about the game but the hate it's getting is putting you off, here's my honest opinion of it after playing it myself. _____________ So this game gets a lot of hate and I want to give my honest opinion of it. It's a fairly unpopular opinion to like this game and that is pretty disappointing considering how WELL THIS GAME PLAYS. I'm serious this game is actually a ton of fun. I own Dragon Ball FighterZ, Street Fighter V, I play Blazblue crosstag with a friend of mine (all on PS4). Out of these Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite and Dragon Ball FighterZ are the two I play even without anyone to play with. I hate that the community is so dead but I understand why. So.. BEFORE YOU BUY: The game looks awful. The models are incredible but are so washed out by bad lighting, a weird blur effect, and a very inconsistent art style amongst the cast that the characters just don't pop like the previous Versus titles. On top of this the usual Marvel vs Capcom roster isn't here. Many people refuse to play this game because of the roster change and I get it. I mean I bought this game because of how great X, Zero, and Sigma all play. The good thing about having trhe PC version of this game is the fact that you can edit how the Unreal Engine works with the game, for more on that a well known youtuber named Maxilian Dood has a video on making the game look really good. It doesn't help Dante's face but the rest of the cast looks good after some engine file changes. The mods for the game range from ridiculous to spectacular. And the fighting. MAN the fighting is good. You choose two characters, which makes the game less daunting than some 3v3 fighters but still makes it feel like you have a second chance if you lose a character and the infinity stones are really easy to figure out despite their being several options. The combos feel good to land, swapping characters to continue a combo in keeps the pace running at times other games may feel stale. The different infinity stones make play changes that really get you thinking about the characters once you get deep in, and chosing a stone could have you altering your team depending on your stone. It's unique and great and has me thinking about the game while I'm not playing it. A feat that FighterZ and this game have in common. Overall if you felt like maybe Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom was too big, this is a good entry to the series for newbies to MvC. If you think 3 characters is too many to learn, the balancing of two characters is great and feels amazing. If you don't like Touch of Death combos (one hit kills with hundred hit combos that make these type of games look terrifying to play for anyone not versed in it) then this game is worth a play because that just doesn't happen as often. If you are just here to play the X-Men, I'm sad to say they aren't here and that is a blow to the community. But if we are ever to get another MvC game, with the X-Men in the fray we need to support this game at the very least. If you can enjoy it for what it is, you'll have an amazing time with the mechanics. It's FUN and that's the important part. The saddest part of this is how little of a future the tournaments for this game seem to have. I'm PSYCHED about how grand FighterZ has been, but I'm still sad to see what looks to be the end of MvC and I just don't want that to happen. I want another MvC game. That's basically it, I want more of this game, heck I want more FROM this game like everyone else but I mostly want more to it. I want the same mechanics, but a roster, the characters are what makes a fighting game for most of us. And we all want the cast back. That starts with realizing that there first needs to be another game for that to be even possible. I hope you found this helpful or something. Seriously, have fun guys.

I picked up both Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 and Marvel VS Capcom Infinite on sale, and I am surprised at all of the negative reviews Infinite has received. For starters, the overhaul of the fighting system is very welcome in an era of modern fighting games. Although I don't pretend to comment as a professional or eSports player, the system is polished and very accessible especially on a home console controller. Also playing a fair bit of Dragon Ball Fighter Z, this feels much more on par in terms of flow when compared to Ultimate MvC3. The story mode is also a very nice addition to the franchise, and reminded me of MK9. Telling an amusingly unique but still authentic story which ties the two franchises together better than any of the previous titles, as well as serving as a good introduction to the mechanics and allowing the player to feel out the different characters. Finally, the biggest criticism of the game seems to be the art style and general presentation. Personally I'm not sure why there is such a big gripe about this... The character models and general presentation seems similar to the Street Fighter 4 and 5 games. Sure it's not as pretty as it could be and a lot of the characters look like over-muscled meat heads, but it is far from horrible. TL:DR The game is worth playing if you are a fan of either Marvel, CAPCOM or the VS franchise. Story is good, gameplay is great, art is not as bad as everyone says it is.

Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is the swan song of an otherwise wonderful series, and it breaks my heart to see it reduced to

    this.

Zeccaria Reviews Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite ------------------------------------------------ *walks on stage, shrugs, and lifts microphone* "Hey, so y'know MvC4 actually did come out.
