Old but gold game, I use to love playing this as a kid. Controls are a bit wonky but overall its still a great game.

As of today, the game runs smoothly on Windows 10 - with no need for settings adjustments or any kind of tricks. It's pretty hard to review this game as it's so old at this point that the "gaming style" is noticeably different than today's simulations. The UI feels odd at first (I guess what saves me is remembering some aspects from when I played it ~15 years ago). The tooltips could be more helpful / descriptive, e.g. I went bankrupt on three hotels before I noticed the little help tooltip saying "bruh you need to build a cashier desk at the main lobby". Technically, the game occasionally crashes when minimized and maximized again, but during my ~8 hours of gameplay so far I have not encountered any other bugs or inexpected crashes. Saving/loading game works fine.

video review: https://youtu.be/MxlNAZv-LIA written review: Hello and welcome to Hotel Giant 1 review! You are here because a) you own Hotel Giant 2 b) you have nostalgia for Hotel Giant 1 or c) you somehow stumbled upon its brand new sale page on Steam. Now I will briefly explain what Hotel Giant 1 is - Hotel Giant 1 is a 2002 hotel management game. You can play the campaign, or create yourself a small random game, which I prefer to call "sandbox". On random mode the game will generate some goals for you, you get to select how many cities there will be in your game, how long will the game last, how much money you want to have at the start and how hard the game will be. After that, you select yourself a city, a plot within that city, a hotel, you purchase it all and then start building inside said hotel. You can build guest rooms, bars, restaurants, libraries, game-rooms, business centers, health clubs and swimming pools. You have some stats about people that have selected your or oppositions hotels and what kind of room they wanted, what kind of facilities they prefered. So having all that information you get to building. After you finish building your hotel you can run advertisement campaigns, tweak how much shampoo your guests get in their bathrooms, lower or increase prices and food/ drink quality in bars and other small management stuff. You can always follow a guest around and observe what they do, or use a cheat-card to direct them to a very well built facility in your hotel to raise their satisfaction. Once the time is up, the game will give you a score and ask if you want to play the save endlessly. You may be asking now "why would I select Hotel Giant 1 over Hotel Giant 2 if I happened to stumble on these games?" The answer is - "you wouldn't". Hotel Giant 2 has more facilities, furniture and further micromanagement of your place to such minute details as for example the menu of your restaurant. However there are a few advantages to Hotel Giant 1 - my first one is personal, it doesn't do this weird glitch when I decide to play a random game rather than a campaign game. Essentially I can only see the outside of my hotel in Hotel Giant 1. Secondly, Hotel Giant 1 has smaller hotels, if you're into that kind of thing. The smallest hotel in Hotel Giant 2, I believe is 4 floors. The smallest possible hotel in 1 is 2 floors. It is hard to discuss pros and cons of such an old game. So pros - it works on my Windows 10 machine, I was very nostalgic for it, so I am happy that I can relive my childhood and it's a fun little simulation game. Cons - object appearance is tied to its value and value of an object is tied to guest expectations, meaning it is very hard to play the game right and still arrange aesthetically pleasing furniture sets without making everything look samey. Best example is the bathrooms - blue toilets for public restrooms are rated poorly, but you are not about to stick in a brown one into a blue room. The whole game feels quite clunky, as one would expect from a 2002 title. Overall - buy it if you are nostalgic for it, or buy it if you want to give this niche gaming history a try. Otherwise out of both Hotel Giants I would say, go with the two. It's essentially the same game, but with more features in it. That doesn't mean that first Hotel Giant is bad. In fact I would say that it was very good for what it was. However all I am saying is, this game is old and there's a sequel that's a bit better.
DISCLAIMER: This is a first impressions review, and NOT a full review
Hotel Giant is a game developed by QLOC/Enlight Software and published by UIG Entertainment/Toplitz Productions The game offers some really nice graphics and a nice yet simplistic aesthetic which is pleasant all the same and has some amazing attention to detail even though it is a little rough around the edges The game does suffer with some repetitiveness at certain areas of the game but a fun game nonetheless and ends just at the right time Hotel Giant overall, however, is an okay game to play, yet sometimes repetitive and it does get boring if being played for a long time, but is an okay simulation sandbox game to play in short bursts!
RECOMMENDED :)
REVIEW SOURCES:

None

This game runs on Windows 10. I've been playing this game since 2007 and I'm confident to say myself that I've mastered this game. The game is somewhat addictive, because I have the urge to create a perfect hotel and I spent a lot of time designing a 5 stars hotel. If you want to download my savegame, go to bit(dot)ly/HGSave (Google Drive) The problem with this game are: - Customization is way too limited. An expensive object tends to have unmatching color with the environment and there is no way to change the color of it, so you're stuck with it. Unless you don't care about your hotel's rating, you have to stick with expensive, ugly object. - No documentation and no one is discussing about this game on the internet. Tutorial barely answers your burning questions, like: How to create Deluxe II room? I'm lucky that I'm patient enough to learn this game for about years and I think I'm capable to create my own guide of this game. - The UI are designed for 640x480 resolution only. other than that, the UI looks bit a mess and small. If you're willing to learn and are as patient as me, you will love this game more than Hotel Giant 2. If you wanna get better experience but steeper learning curve, buy Hotel Giant 2. If you wanna see the latest modern hotel sim game, look up "Hotel Magnate" on Steam. Sorry for my bad english.

Suddenly remembered this game recently and got stupidly excited when I found it on here! I totally remember going to BestBuy to pick out a new game and getting this one XD It totally brings back memories and I've already spent close to 9 hours after a day and a half of playing! Of course the options are super outdated (it's an old game) but it's kind of a fun challenge to have to work with that stuff. ALSO! Something 8yo me is mad that I'm just now finding out - In the main menu/homescreen, just type frontoffice and hit enter. You'll unlock CHEATS! When you load into a game, press Alt and O and it unlocks MORE FURNITURE AND OTHER DECOR!!! Glad I know about it now XD Totally recommend getting this game! It's a bit like Sims but with a main objective and challenge!
