Hexaverse is a turn based, 5X (

eXcavate

, eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate) multiplayer strategy game.

You'll strive to conquer volumetric planets against an AI or other players.

Some planets are as you would expect: flat, hilly, covered by oceans. Others ... not so much.

Feel free to design your own.

Sometimes you will need to build bridges to reach your destination. Or it may be strategically useful to excavate tunnels or caves ... or to blow up a mountain.

With more dimensions come more strategic options for you to exploit, but also more paths for your opponents to avoid your defenses.

Resources never deplete, but the quest for ever more also never ends. And literally undermining someone else's mines can be surprisingly effective.

In Hexaverse, good offense and defense requires diversity and cleverness. You typically don't build huge armies here, much less of only one type. Every single unit matters. A few artillery tanks in just the right spots might do all the damage you need. If that doesn't work, try nuking from sub-orbit.

Be careful, though, not to rely on the unseen to remain as it appears.

You never quite know when your enemies just might have planted a big bomb beneath your main base ... a few rounds before you installed that subsurface scanner.

Try to see everything, exploit what others can't see, for they will try to do the same to you.

If only that was all that mattered...

So I tested this game, with not expecting too much. It has many problems as it is in a very early development phase, but I think it's worth the money. Though I had a hard time playing it more than 1h at one piece. So I guess I haven't seen much of this games content. Pros: 1. The graphics are somehow appealing though it's very basic 2. I guess the game could make some fun 3. Multiplayer: Dedicated Servers (though I haven't tried it) Cons: 1. Not very appealing UI and Menu 2. Too few options, like for example separate sound option for sound and (menu-) music (there is no music in the game yet) 3. The tutorial is too text-based with telling too much and explaining too few. After I played the tutorial, I still had many problems with the very basics. 4. Singleplayer is a local server... 5. I'm having a hard time to distinguish vehicles/buildings as they look very similar to each other. 6. It's difficult to find out which building/vehicle is doing something and which is idling TL;DR: This game has good concepts and could be fun, though it is not very beginner friendly and it has several problems BTW: It's worth to check out the website for some useful information of the game

I feel like if this game was an RTS, I might like it quite a lot. It's got cool things, like craters, digging tunnels, and bombers that make your enemies go like the White House from Independence Day, but suffers a bunch from the problem many turn-based games have, where sometimes you get a turn where you have lots and lots of decisions to make, and most of the turns you have no decisions to make at all, and the other player has those things happening on different turns from you. The game ended not when I destroyed my friend, but a while after, when the neutral AI faction decided to blow up my base. Also sometimes I'd order four tanks to carefully approach a rocket turret simultaneously, and find that two or three of them hung back (out of cowardice?), causing them all to die uselessly.
