I have a little over a thousand hours in the real T-34C, and I miss flying it - it's a great "raw trainer" with a simple cockpit, responsive power, and aerobatic reliability. This add-on is better than the freeware T-34s I've found online. It has a beautifully modeled cockpit, it sounds just like a real T-34, and it's a pleasure to fire it up and practice aerobatics. One downside: the CDI knob is so sensitive that it's basically worthless. You can always fly the needles for VOR approaches, but you're going to have to practice localizers with another plane. Speaking of firing it up, several reviewers here have expressed frustration at their inability to start the aircraft's engine. To that end, here's a starter guide: 1. Click on the red fuel latch switch behind the throttle on the left side of the cockpit (NOTE: this latch does not start the plane IRL; it's a gate that keeps the pilot from inadvertently securing the fuel in flight. Just go with it.) 2. Click the starter switch on. You'll find the switch on the right side of the cockpit. 3. Wait for ITT (the temp gauge) to peak, then click the switch off. 4. Push the throttle forward and go flying!

I am sooo unhappy. Even with the tipc from here, No way to operate this plane. "Cueing" up and going back into simulation will start the engine :-( switching control button for the "Starter" on the flight sticks is NOT reflected on the dashboard and other strange behaviors. Unfortunately, I have to rate this to a very low end - what a shame. I am running FSX on Windows 10 and no issues with the standard planes and little with DLC planes ____________________________ I tried to get a refund Guys, not only that I did not get my money back for this DLC, but I am punished by Steam because the refund will only be granted within 2 h of playtime. My "playtime" was 3:58 hours. To my opinion a little time to get this rubbish to fly. Less time, and they would have said I did not spend enough time to get it going. DO NOT PURCHASE!!! Or at least get your refund within 2 hours or through the money out of your window!!!!

Not recommended. No 2D cockpit panel -- a real bummer. This model also requires all checklist items be followed...no fun flying with engine in autorun. Stupid realism seems to be the order of the day. Engine dies on scenario start unless ignition, starter, and fuel pump are engaged. The cockpit fogs up if controls not set right. And on and on. As one who learned to fly and is rated in the real T-34C, I get the desire for realism....yes the cockpit will fog up when descending from colder aloft temps to warm moist temps at lower altitude. But there should be options for "simple mode" and then geek gamer mode. Anyone who is rated in any aircraft knows there is no comparison between being in the actual cockpit and Microsoft flight sim just in terms of physical connection. You can't manipulate a mouse and keyboard like you can your hands in the cockpit. So it is silly (Silly!) to try it here as the default (and only) setting. Realism here should apply to the flight model -- airspeeds, stalling characteristics, speed of control surfaces (like flap movement), and general handing. Everything else should be an option based on the level of geekism one desires. I assure you the real airplane is much, much easier to manage than this model. Switch and precedure overkill makes for bad fun fly simming.

No one likes this plane because they cant get the engine to start. Look at the manual it will show you how to start the engine. Anyone who likes PMDG will like this classic prop plane. Every knob works good sounds and very realistic. I like it its a good plane. Its a good old trainer

Don't thing twice, purchase this DLC, you won't be disappointed. After 5 minutes I fell in love with it, why? 1. Gauges are awesomely realistic and 3D. 2. The engine sound is powerful (ask ellerfolk who flew the bird). 3. The response of commands is immediate and fluid. And much more, get it, worth the bucks. For getting started the engine, read ellerfolk's review.

Despite the negative reviews I think its a great aircraft. You definitely got to read the POH and follow the checklist in order to enjoy flying this bird in FSX. Had some problems starting it up using my VRS Superbug saved flight but I figured out that you have to save it as an individual flight of its own. Love the cockpit fogging effect at altitude climb. The powerful engine and external/internal environmental sounds makes me feel like I am in the real thing. The only suggestion would be to design one compatible with P3D.

This is an enjoyable aircraft, but not without its issues. The auto start is definitely messed up, but manual start is simple enough. Others have posted how to do that. My next issue is my flight controls freeze up right at 10,000' regardless of the environment, location and weather. Has anyone figured that one out?

If you like realism and treat FSXse as a hobby or training tool then you will probably enjoy this aircraft. Yes it requires you to understand the basics and to follow procedure. The start up does need your full attention but the plane does indeed start up as it should. Youll need to be aware of possible fogging up when you climb past 6000+ feet but can remedy this by turning on the cockpit blower. You must turn the oxygen supply ON before you reach 10,000 feet or you will no longer be able to control the aircraft. thats it and its not a big deal. Great plane and I love flying it.

All the thumbs down say it wont start. Read the manual people, or at the very least, read the reference material and the startup check list. This is actually a fun plane to start, its a really neat process. Make sure you lean your fuel above 10k if you have auto-mixture off. Watch those landing speeds. I did what I thought was a decent tactical/attack landing and Lt Iron first over here blew the tires. I'm sure the trainer was very impressed. Cool plane, and like the name indicates, it'll mentor you.
