Warning: Directionless can cause motion sickness. Caution is recommended.

(Absolutely zero jump scares)

Directionless is an experimental Virtual Reality horror game. It tries out a variety of ways of using Virtual Reality to unnerve and disorient the player, with carefully crafted audio working with an interactive environment to pull you into a nightmarish world where you can't trust anything.

You'll begin in a harmless room, but after falling asleep and waking up at midnight, things that looked harmless before may seem a little bit more menacing, and soon enough the unsettling occurrences begin. But the environment isn't the only threat: your own mind is liable to work against you. Directionless, in its core, is a collected effort to temporarily destroy your grip on reality.

While it is a short experience, replay value in Directionless comes from sharing it with friends. For those with little experience in VR, Directionless can blow their minds. Just make sure you're there to catch them if they fall over!

Wasn\'t sure what to expect going in, but for less than the price of a cup of coffee, I gave it a shot. Short but intense experience, can\'t really say much without spoiling it. Visually, the models and textures could use improvement; not sure if it\'s intentional, but a lot of visuals don\'t mesh well together and immersion suffers slightly as a result. Also, the book you start the experience with is just awful, literally MS Paint textures with 4th wall breaking... Aside from these minor issues, the experience itself is great if your stomach can handle it.

Uh... Not sure what just happened, but based on my research (Google), I'm 90% sure I was just inducted into The Illuminati. Maybe not the best experience for the VR noobs, or those with weak guts, due to some perspective shifts, and artificial motion. While extremely short, this does explore some very interesting perspectives. Can't honestly say whether or not it's worth the buck, but I do love weird things. This fits the bill. And for less than the price of those beaks and feet that the fast food industry calls "chicken nuggets". So, take that as you will. 7/10 Would consider giving my soul to The Dark Lord again.

This is a 10 minute game where you enjoy a good book and then realize the bread you ate had gone bad.

Wow this was an amazing experience! for 1.19 nzd it is well worth its money I love these weird types of experiences it makes me feel very uneasy. give it a shot at $1.19 if you own a htc vive :D!

Great "WTF is this" Experience.... They need to rename this game Acid Trip. This is what I imagine one might be like.

Look, I've played a lot of VR games on Steam. This is terrible. The 'horror' part is really just where they took all the 'Best VR Practices for not inducing nasua' and then did them all. The entire experience is 6 minutes, total. I know it's only a dollar, but honestly there's free games inifinitely better than this. I'm surprised the author has the audacity to charge for what is essentially a very poor demo.

i liked it, but its really short its cheap, but i dont feel like it should cost any money at all tbh there are more interesting VR experiences out there that are free...

I've spent 99 cents on upgrading an order of gross french fries to a larger order of gross french fries. The 99 cents I spent on this demo did not fill me with regret and shame like those fries did. It's really a fantastic experience. My only complaint is that it's not long enough, but those 7 minutes are pretty awesome. It's a great demo for people who already have a little experience in VR. I wouldn't recommend it as an introduction to VR though, because the motion may be too much for beginners or those who are prone to nausea. And seriously, for the price, you get a cool 7 minute demo to try out and show other people. In my mind, it is a must purchase for Vive owners

    Jun 29, 2016

Very short and non-interactive. Can't go wrong for 99 cents though. The ending creeped me the heck out.
  • UEAKCrash

    Jul 5, 2016

Very short, corny. At no point did I feel creeped out like the intention seemed to be, it was too over the top and nonsensical. Feels like a bunch of random effects and assets thrown at the player. Just as I was thinking it was starting to go somewhere interesting, the credits popped up. Hate to bash on some experimental VR stuff, but it really doesn't feel like something that should be charged for.

First off, hail Stan. I'm pretty sure he likes this title. It is a short, but very sweet creep-you-out experience with pentagrams and eyeballs. I loved the environment, both inside the house and out. It could have used a little bit of a delay before triggering the next sequence, so you might want to savor and soak in the house before it transforms and everything goes haywire.
This is an excellent way to spend a space buck
Sep 30, 2019

Short and very weird – I’ve played through it twice and I’m still not quite sure what’s going on. The graphics are amateurish, which reduces some the scare factor significantly, but do not underestimate the disorientation – the whole world changes scale, spins, and moves around you. Not for those easily effected by VR motion sickness! There’s not really anything interactive to do here, and not much replayability, so I’m right on the fence on this one. Based on its low price, I’ll give it Thumbs: UP!
