Having the DLC packs only redeem once is a terrible idea for a single player game. Previous instalments in the series are all about replayability and this is just an embarassingly blatant cash grab. Also, erverything described int he pack hasn't been delievered, I am missing the Praxis kits, funds, and weapon parts. DLC (downloadable content) is additional content that can be purchased and added to a game, typically adding weapons/levels/in game currency or other features to the game. The DLC for this game apparently is artificially subdivided into 'durable' (multiple use) and non-'durable' components (restricted to single use). Nowhere in the advertising material is it made at all apparent that this is the case. In the attached advertisements, 'durable' and non-'durable' components are listed together with no distinction, and no information whatsoever on 'durability'. Non-'durable' DLC of this nature is completely unprecedented in the long history of DLC in this industry, and thus this is entirely unforeseeable and unexpected on the part of all buyers. As far as I can tell, this information has only been released by the manufacturer on a single social media post AFTER release of the product, which many customers had pre-ordered (myself included). This behaviour has led customers to use the single use non-'durable' DLC without any indication that it would be single use. It is clear the manufacturer meant to conceal this information and deceive buyers.

Ever bought a DLC that only allowed you to redeem your items once? Not once per save file. Not once per new game. Just once and never more. OH, and BY THE WAY, if you ever redeem your bonus items, your save file becomes locked to your installation. What does that mean? It means if you ever reinstall the game; Install on another machine; or even just change the installation directory from steam; Then your save file won't work anymore. Not even joking. This is the brave new world of save file DRM people. Talk about making steam cloud useless.

The DLC is broken down into two categories: 1. NORMAL DLC 2. ONE-TIME USE DLC The NORMAL DLC includes re-skins for a few of the guns. The ONE-TIME USE DLC includes all of the praxis kits, credits, ammo, etc. Once it's used, it's gone. It will no longer be available for any additional playthroughs. Another interesting thing to note, is that once used, it is also no longer available for use in previous saved games either. So if you decide that you want to revert to a past save, you've basically wasted it and that's money you just threw away.

This is a ripoff. I've been a DX fan for well over a decade but there's no way around the fact that this is a ripoff. What's worse it's a cleverly disguised ripoff where they did not even have the decency to be honest about it being a ripoff. Instead you buy it with (at the time of my purchase) no indication that you're paying for a very expensive micro-transaction one-time-use-ripoff.

I'm writing this purely in context of pricing, I think the DLCs it contains are great and reviewed them separately. The DLCs cost $24 total. Why the f*** is season pass $30? I can only guess (and hope) that there will be more DLC stories because it is a scam to charge people more in a bundle than individually just for offering you sh** that you didn't want.

The worst value in the history of gaming. Do NOT buy this at full price. Hell, it isnt even worth it at 50% off. Wait for a 75% discount or more. Seriously, the Season Pass gets you some consumables that you can only use in one playthrough then theyre gone. It also gets you two DLC's, both of which are nothing more than a side quest chain in the main game. When you stack that up against the ship DLC for Human Revolution, which was more content than *both* of these DLC combined, with it's price tag of $5 the DX:MD Season Pass is hands down AWFUL in comparison. Base game was $60 at release. This was $30 on top. The entire package is worth no more than $25 in gameplay, compared to the $55 that Human Rev and its DLC cost together. This is not even considering how much of an insult microtransactions are, on top of a $90 game.

Used some of the Storage consumables without really reading the warning (yeah, yeah, my fault and all), realized they were one-time only a minute later, alt-tabbed to Steam to double check the one-time-only availability because it seemed unbelievable, crashed on alt-tabbing back. Now some of the DLC content is gone forever, because the game autosaved before they landed in my inventory, not after. Guess someone in the publisher's office thought it was a good idea... Wrong. It made me regret NOT pirating this game. Not because I need the DLC consumables, no. But because I think such DLC policy is something that deserves a truckload of Golden Turd awards in the first place. Thank

that I actually waited for a 85% sale, this game is not worth a single cent over the bargain bin price - not because of the game quality, mind you - but because I don't like to feel like I'm playing some third-rate F2P MMO when playing a AAA title.

It's clear that Mankind Divided's season pass was a rushed, unsatisfying affair -- where content and essential story information was gated off by Square-Enix in an apparent bid to extract more money from consumers. The only way I'd recommend buying this is if it's on sale at a deep, deep discount. Mixing a handful of interesting missions and weapons with lackluster consumable items and weak mission formats will most likely leave players frustrated and annoyed, which is not something I thought I'd say about this franchise. The biggest letdown is the consumable items, which have been tied to one use per account most likely as a way not to take away from the microtransaction backend. While you don't necessarily need them to progress (there's so many Praxis Kits littered throughout the game world that I had 14 by the time I reached Koller, not counting the 5 offered by the SP), it's an infuriating and ultimately-pointless notion that only served to alienate fans, especially when Eidos were able to integrate all of the pre-order bonus content from Human Revolution (including bonus Praxis Kits) into the Director's Cut version. It doesn't help that all of the items offered by this season pass are buried in a submenu that's obscure enough to be easily missed, and the game even tells you that you can't put the consumable Praxis Kits back in your storage just in case you don't want to use them. I've spoken about the two major story DLCs (System Rift and Criminal Past) here and here, so I'll instead focus on the rest of what's included in this pack: Desperate Measures: As this DLC was previously a pre-order bonus and later locked off from purchasing separately, I have no choice but to talk about it here. This is an underwhelming, ultimately-pointless, mission that was very obviously cut from the main game -- but given how short it is, perhaps that's for the best. The first third of the mission is just conversation cutscenes, and the back half is rooting around a security office that poses very little challenge to anyone who's semi-competent with the main game. I finished this DLC last in my playthrough, and wasn't even going to play it but decided to do so for completeness' sake. The only thing you learn here is that Ivan Berk (the guy who bombs the train station in the main game) is a tragic figure. Whoop-de-do. If there were some compelling computer conversations or secrets to find, I might have been more interested, but as it stands, this is a dud. Took me two hours with full completion (all Praxis Kits found, all enemies knocked out, everything hacked). Assault Pack: An ultimately-pointless weapon pack with a Battle Rifle reskin that isn't any better than its base-game counterpart, a bunch of consumable items and an augmentation that has very little utility usage (the ability to escape from armed grenades on walls), and is buried within the submenu of another augmentation to boot. If you're playing a stealth character, this has little to no value for you. Tactical Pack: On the other hand, this pack is incredible. The tranq rifle it gives you is light-years better than its regular version -- it can shoot darts very fast and has exceptional damage output, not to mention it takes up less room in your inventory. The Micro-Assembler Aug might be the most broken thing in the game, as it lets you convert just about anything into spare weapon or crafting parts. It opens up playstyles that are normally unfeasible (like someone who could exclusively use the TESLA, for instance), and it breaks any sort of challenge in the main game. You could literally go through the whole game not putting any points into hacking and just crafting Multitools for days. I had two stacks of Biocells and sold a good four-five stacks of Multitools by the time I completed the game. If you can get this for sale at a very cheap price (like it is during the Steam Winter Sale, when I wrote this review), do so. The bonus items and Criminal Past DLC are worth the price of admission by themselves. Otherwise, steer clear.

What this season pass does is to extend your game with some consumable bundles (which are one time use in the SP mode )and 2 DLC side missions. There's nothing major to lose by skipping it, you will miss no major plot points from the story and above all, the game itself had the original price of 60 EUR/USD and it's a shame to even have this overpriced season pass in it. Trust me, you are not missing anything by skipping it.

Mar 3, 2018

Be warned, this season pass is a terrible value. Only get it if you can do so during a big sale, and even then only if it's cheaper than the prices of System Rift and A Criminal Past combined, because the extra content is literally worthless and even those two side missions, being short, non-integrated, and largely unimportant to the story as they are, aren't worth very much. I only have this because it was $3.14 after sale and bundle discounts and I'm obsessive enough about Deus Ex to care about the side missions at such a low price point.
• Zamasee

Aug 21, 2018

The fact that your ingame rewards are usable only once makes this less of a season pass and more of a thinly veiled attempt at more DLC. That's going to be a hard no from me in the future.

This is one of the most predatory "Season Passes" to have ever been released.

Oct 28, 2018

For one (and only one) specific reason, I'm Recommending the "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided DLC - Season Pass:" the two story DLCs that come with it ("System Rift" and "A Criminal Past") are cheaper this way. Both of those story DLCs are well done and worth playing. Based purely on my dollar-per-hour metric, I had to Not Recommend "System Rift" (8.5 hours for 100% Achievements), but did Recommend "A Criminal Past" (11.3 hours for 100% Achievements). Getting both of those story DLCs (19.8 hours total) here for a current list price of about $15 is therefore a good idea. Regarding the rest of the garbage included in the Season Pass, why bother? Since "Deus Ex" is meant to be a stealth game, all you need is the physical take-downs granted by your standard augs. Except for the one or two uses of the stun gun, I've never used any weapons. So, for me, the "Assault Pack" has no value. I suppose the consumables in the "Tactical Pack" have some use (though they're limited to being used in only one playthrough of however many you do). But, there are plenty of those available in-game. I never used the ones that came with the SP. So, if you want a cheaper way to get actual story content, I recommend this Season Pass.

The fact that your ingame rewards are usable only once makes this less of a season pass and more of a thinly veiled attempt at more DLC. That's going to be a hard no from me in the future.

This is one of the most predatory "Season Passes" to have ever been released.
