So, I have been watching the free episodes for a couple of nights. Everything going good. Was able to follow along just fine. Then this guy starts talking about negative space in episode 5. Im like, OK, whatever. Then he says it a couple of more times later on. Starting to get skeptical, because for the life of me I can't understand what he is getting at. Episode 6, dude keeps throwing this term out there, and I'm like, yo, this guy doesn't even know what negative space...AHA! Like a light it turned on for me. Episode 6 is aptly named. Just take my money already! 10/10

I spent more money on a set of pencils than I did this Tutorial series. Well worth the investment. I watched the 1st 3 videos grabbed my scetch book and started inventing my blueprint. Held my book up to the monitor and was like wow I just did the same thing. Video 4 here we come.

Very informative series of videos. I have no artistic experience at all, and the first video really showed so much information. I had to buy a specific pencil, kneaded eraser and a sketchbook to start but those were pretty low cost anyway. It really opened up my mind on how drawing works.

I just purchased this training course yesterday, but took a few days before to evaluate it. The videos are professionally done, great video and audio. The author speaks with a clear voice, and plesant to listen to. The content is superb, it will improve anyone on drawing the entire human body. The manner that the material is presented in will enable a person to draw the body from within their mind and not have to depend on pictures to look at, this is what is so awesome. The author teaches a series of formulas for laying out the anatomy, and easy to remember. The author is superfast to answer questions also. He is not only very professional, and a great artist, but an excellent teacher. I just cant say enough great things! For the price, it is low, and affordable. I highly recommend this to new people, as well as, others that are already artist. Buy this course, you will be glad that you did!!! Riven you are truly a master artist, thank you very much. You WILL make me into a better artist, so I want to thank you in advance. Today I will buy me a new sketch book and get started. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best, I rate your course as a 20!!!

A must have regardless If you are already an artist or not, it goes into details step by step, lectures you through exercises while keeping everything in a easy-to-understand way with practical studies you can learn in every single lesson this course provides.

This video really helps! I've been drawing all my life, and have read a few books here and there but this is the easiest tutorial I have ever watched! The video quality is nice, the voice/sound quality is so well done that you can understand the creator's voice without the need of headphones. It is easy to understand, the best of all is that it gives a step-by-step tutorial On how to draw elegantly. To sum it up: Video: 7/10 Sound: 10/10 Content :9/10 ( could've went with ten but there is no subtitles ) Overall :8/10 Thank you Mr. Phoenix!

I want to learn how to draw and I think that these tutorials helped me a lot on how to get a grasp on it, I did the first 3 and loved it. I love the pace and explanations given. I would love for a similarly detailed course about envoiroment art, like the perspective thing, framing, color palette, etc. I would love to know where to begin on drawing a scene on a jungle, desert, urban, utopian and dystopian and to be able to fit a character there and convey a statement or maybe even a story. Anyway this is a great start. I've always wanted to draw as a way to cope and deal with my shaky hands, and I was very happy with the result, might be a bad drawing now, but I know where to go. As a side note, every video takes its own spot on steam library, which is kind of annoying, but that's clearly a steam problem, for now I just hid it so it wouldn't bother, so I have to access it through the hidden label.

I've been going through all kind of ups and downs in this course, it took me 2 months I suppose (all the time focusing on this, nothing else) to finish everything (excluding advanced poses). At the end I can say that benefits are big. But for me it was a overall bad experience. The author says that "mind is going to go through frustration" but for me it's not becasue I don't understand some things yet, but because I feel lack of good guidence and enthusiasm. Like "Wait, can't you explain it clearly where something starts exactly, so I don't guess where I have to put something?" or "Oh, gosh, could you do it a little bit faster?" It comes to that you have to go though video, not understanding some things, ignoring this fact go further and then back, to link all the dots. Which IS frustrating. It's really hard to say, because I think it's a great course, but with many flaws. Answer this questions: Is there better way, do I have the patience? If No and Yes, then you consider taking up this course. And yes, there're better alternatives.

This is a talk while draw at the same time video series, as such it suffers from the same problems. The narration is improvised however there is a clear plan but don't expect clear conveyance. He tends to meander especially after the skeleton and abandons the teaching methods that made the skeleton so clear and easy to learn. Once you get to the muscles the information drip feed grinds to a snail's pace. If you have a fast learning pace this will test your patience. I spend most of the time groaning saying "Get on with it!" Despite this I highly recommend the series. You won't find a level of quality at this price range anywhere. Just do note that it gets repetitive and you can go entire videos without anything productive to note. You will have to supplement other material to compensate for the sections where it takes too long to convey very little. TL;DR You will learn what it promises but will take it's sweet time doing so.

Great course! Now I start to think about why everything look like this and found what's wrong with my previous drawings. I don't know if it's possiable to have subtitles on steam videos, that would be better for none English speaking countries.

This is the best human drawing lesson I had so far. It teaches you from the very basic in a very logical and scientisfic way so that you can actually repeat it on your own without help. This is the first time I actually feel like I understand how to draw a figure from zero, and I have gone through tons of books without the same effect in the past. Definitely worth the month if you are serious about improving your human drawing skill.

Overall pretty good, good for fundamentals and keeping in mind proportions, Wow is it dry though, I find it very hard to watch this for more than 10 minutes at a time. If you enjoy Bob Ross's the joy of painting - this is the complete opposite of that. He has a very non-organic style, very, very formulaic approach which is in great some areas like getting down the fundamentals and being cognizant of how proportions and body parts interact, but forces you to slow down to a screeching halt at times when it's not necessary in a video - we can pause, we can rewind, we can review, Riven doesn't need to keep drawing boxes and different shapes that he'll then erase to draw the actual shape that you're looking to draw in the first place to reinforce the point, or he'll proportionately fill in with the body part or invention in a box he drew in from different shapes but he does. It reminded me of a shonen anime, it's good at times, but painfully slow paced at parts that feel like filler.

This is a long, roughly 80 hour course in learning how to draw the human figure from your mind, Mr. Phoenix covers a surprisingly large amount of material which includes the skeletol and muscular system. I have gone through this entire course, and I can say with confidence it has definitely improved my drawing abilities, especially with the human figure directly from my mind! I would suggest to Mr. Phoenix to slow down a bit from time to time in any future tutorials he does, however that is nothing a quick pause to the video cannot fix. It's understandable why he is fast, as he is a proffesional artist of many years. I would recommend this course to anyone who has a goal of learning to draw the human figure directly from imagination. I would also like to recommend a book: Freehand figure drawing for illustrators by David H. Ross. This book will also be good as Mr. Ross covers some things Mr. Phoenix did not. I would still recommend this course, as it is easier to follow along and see how Mr. Phoenix draws, which is the advantage with these videos as opposed to learning from a book. Thank you Mr. Phoenix for a wonderful 80 hours of helping me improve my drawing ability! <3

As someone who has had formal art training since I was 13, I can vouch for this course. Not Sponsored. You probably ended up here because you were looking for drawing tutorials or something similar... So let's cut to the chase: Is this for everyone? NO Maybe you you can learn a thing or two if you know nothing. Watch the FREE lessons, if you have drawing/illustration basics and you can keep with the teacher you are in the clear. This course is also NOT for pros. This is a very complete technical course that cover all the basics for the human body, but contains knowledge that you may already posses. (Also people with ADHD that can't focus for at least 30 mins are going to have a bad time as the tutorial is somewhat slow paced) This course is clearly made for people that are interested in polish their drawing skills in a serious way. It's a 80 hours video course that if you are following with the exercises, it's going to take you over 100+ hours including practice. It's a good purchase for students or people in general interested in pursuing an art or illustration career/job/hobby. Unlike hundreds of tutorials/courses/classes you find online, there's no pre prepared stuff... 95% of things seen are done "live" so you can understand HOW to get to ANY point of the drawing. This guy goes from and idea, to lines and shapes, to proportions and structure, to form, to muscles and anatomy, to outlines and ends up with a polished human figure. Even with the rough sketching. No BS like "Yeah draw a circle add some lines and voilá a stick figure! Give me $25 a month for more tutorials!".

Alright, I've been a pretty avid artist for a few years, and I had trouble learning anatomy due to never finding a good way to do so. When I found this course, I was pretty pleased at the premise of learning anatomy alongside a teacher figure who would explain everything along the way. Pieces started to come together for me in regards of issues I had with anatomy, and I felt pretty good about it. Trouble was, even at 720p, it was hard to make out what he was even drawing, and the wonky camera and hand obsctructions meant I would be pausing the video a lot just to figure out what was even going on. In addition, concepts were explained that weren't demonstrated very well. The "gesture system" was mentioned a lot, but it didn't seem to be built on very much. Maybe I'm just stupid, but that's how it came off to me. I completed the skeleton and felt pretty damn good about myself, but I began to stumble after getting past the head section. The muscles of the neck and torso were... questionable. I had issues with where everything attached, especially as to how the Serratus attached to the torso, so I looked to some other online sources of information, just to learn... Almost none of what was taught was correct. While it's good that he consistently told me that you're allowed to be imperfect with details, anatomy and such, what he DIDN'T get right was most of the shapes of the skeleton. The scapula and pelvis in particular were seriously wrong in their shapes and even additional details, such as the proper shapes of them and the extra muscle attachments. The spine was ESPECIALLY bad, since in no way does the ribcage or spine bend as extremely in reality as it does on this course. As well as that, there were very clear inconsistencies when he was demonstrating various angles of things. In each demonstration of the face, for example, he would always draw the jaw in different positions and heights, which did very heavily confuse me and caused me to flip back to previous studies to gauge which was 'right'. Other inconsistencies were, again, in the pelvis and ribcage, making me wonder what was actually right. Despite these errors, I appreciated his approaches to learning. While formulas can't be applied to everything, it can be applied to facial proportions, for example, to create more varied faces. Proportions are important in the body, and I appreciated that ideology. Imperfectionism is also a very admirable approach to art, in that no human body is absolutely perfect, but that doesn't excuse the information taught to be. For anyone considering this, I HEAVILY recommend the information on http://muscleandmotion.com . For a similar price you can get a full depth of the skeleton and muscles, and how they move as well as where they're attached. Learning is good, but learn it right. Come to this guy for the approaches and mentality, go to MuscleandMotion for the real info. I appreciate what he had taught me, because now I can adapt that info to be correct, but I'm displeased to find out that most of it wasn't entirely correct.

good course which I no longer have access to. The video player has stopped working which I suspect is entirely the fault of steam. I was forced to purchase this all over again from www.udemy.com/. So I would recommend this course just don't buy it on steam.

So i cant give this product a negative review, this is an amazing tutorial, but instead of buying this off steam, i'd suggest you buy it directly from the website... as steam does not let you download the videos you buy!
