Why isn't this a huge game ? it's the perfect modern wipeout, for plenty of reasons. Hands down the best AG racer out there, a real gem !

A fantastic old-school racer that does a great job paying tribute to the first three WipEout games on Playstation with its wobbly PSX visuals and I love games with 3d PSX-style visuals that make you feel nostalgic. With every single update, the game gets better and better, and the inclusion of a custom race creator where you choose what ships they will race with and what liveries they will use resulting in millions of combinations, that is a huge plus for me! Also the Steam Workshop for custom ships and tracks is a huge icing on the cake. BallisticNG is proof that we need more classic arcade racers, futuristic or not with nostalgic visuals, with steam workshop/mod support. Grab this game as soon as you can!

it's the wipeout we always wanted but never got past the PS1 era it's literally wipeout to the smallest micro legal difference, controls, graphics, sound, all on point. it's perfect. very cheap but amazing DLC, but also free Steam workshop content for DAYS runs on a potato and user content is courteous of that as well if you're even considering it, just get it, it's $8 and you will get your moneys worth two hundred fold also don't be a heathen - gamepad isn't required but only the unhinged play with keyboard

By far the best WipeOut clone on Steam. Gameplay is WipeOut 1:1. This with modern graphics would be a dream come true. (not saying it looks bad, just not a huge fan of the "classic" look. But the gameplay makes up for it :) )

This is a PS1 Wipeout game with tighter controls, faster gameplay and less frustrating design, on PC at a price that is frankly a steal. The campaign is well-designed for any newcomers, and extensive in its length and scope of events included as well as providing a good amount of challenge if you're going for platinum medals. The original ship designs are excellent, with a large roster that provides a lot of unique gameplay opportunities, though the frontend stats don't express this as well as they could. Tracks range from open and fast to very technical and skill-testing, without any of the overly aggravating design of something like Spilskinanke in 2097 and again far outnumber those found in any Wipeout game, with two free, one paid and one upcoming expansion. These all have their own campaigns with more gametypes added. Visuals are very faithful to the PS1 style, though upscaled, and the game overall has an excellent art direction and presentation despite the lack of technical fidelity. There are retro graphics options that aim to emulate the graphical quirks of PS1 hardware such as jittery models and colour dithering, which when combined with a 4:3 resolution and the ingame CRT filter give the game a very distinct feel for those looking for an old-school experience. Soundtrack is also fantastic with a huge selection of original songs from various artists, taken in whole with the game's excellent sound design for its world and vehicles. This is all in addition to the game's incredible capacity for modding, with custom rosters of ships, huge collections of tracks for when the base content has been mastered, the ability to load custom music playlists and soundpacks, and code mods such as HUDs and additional game modes. There are also a few hidden options within the game itself, such as the 2280 and floorhugger modes which change the physics to approximate Wipeout HD and Fusion respectively, meaning BallisticNG has an amount of content that will ensure that you will never feel "finished" with the game. Simply put, one of the best arcade racers of all time and honestly the best Wipeout game, even if it is not so in an official capacity. The learning curve of its mechanics can be steep at times, but if you play the campaign and are even halfway decent at games, this will feel immensely rewarding rather than frustrating. There is no reason you should not own this game, even if just to support its amazing developer.

Sometimes i randomly buy games at four in the morning just to try them out, generally i can have fun with some pretty deplorable experiences thanks to the sleep deprivation. This game was like if you did all the drugs and somehow didn't feel awful afterwards, just unparalleled levels of dopamine. the only downside is the default button mapping isn't explained and the tutorial is in the practice modes' pause menu, but those are just nitpicks. BallisticNG is one of the best indie racing games I've played on Steam! Super deep and satisfying anti-grav racer physics, tons of content, and a slick retro aesthetic. It's a recreation of classic Wipeout, which is perfectly fine because classic Wipeout isn't being made anymore! I really appreciate the lengthy campaign. There's a lot of single player content to play through, with just enough structure to keep you going. There are some gripes with difficulty balance in the campaign, and annoying menu design, but these are pretty minor complaints in the grand scheme of things. Special shout out to the powerful track editor!

This isn’t just a “love letter” or a “faithful throwback”. This is Wipeout 4 slipping into our reality from someone else’s 2001, where Studio Liverpool are on top of the world and Wipeout Fusion never happened. Simply put, this might be the greatest AG game ever made. It’s a content rich, expertly crafted anti-grav racing experience that deserves all the plaudits it gets on its own merits - not just for being the best version ever made of others in a long forgotten genre. Oh, and it should be ✅ Steam Deck Verified. Plays superbly out of the box on Deck.

It's Wipeout. It looks like Wipeout, it sounds like Wipeout and it plays like Wipeout. I love the retro PS1 style graphics, the 90's dance soundtrack and the racing is so fun. Unlike other anti-gravity racers i've played it seems like the devs concentrated on making the game playable and fun rather than being so damn fast that you need the reflexes of a fighter pilot to win races. Thanks to the Steam workshop i can drive the iconic Feisar car from the original Wipeout on fan remakes of tracks from that game which is so cool. A real gem.

    Dec 15, 2018

This is a great AG racing game. Like you could probably already tell; this looks like a (very good) old-school Wipeout clone, but it's a lot more than that: [+] Campaign mode with lots of events, just like in Wipeout [+] Retro graphics extremely well done [+] Modern graphic options also look nice [+] Online, splitscreen, and even dual-monitor splitscreen modes. There also is VR. [+] Very extensive modding support; custom ships, tracks, campaigns, music and SFX. [+] A LOT of settings to customize the game to your liking [+] From what i can tell, controls are spot on. [+] Great value for the already insanely low price There also is a "2280 mode", which changes the physics and controls to the modern Wipeout style (like in Pure, Pulse, HD etc.), complete with barrel rolls and airbrake shifts. That does bring me to my only gripe, which might be more of a personal thing for me than an actual problem with the game; [-] The campaign mode cannot be played with the 2280 mode enabled. Custom Race only. It's more of a fun little addition. I'm a modern Wipeout fan, and i don't like the old-school controls and physics as much, so i'm really disappointed i got SO CLOSE to having a game that controlled like the modern Wipeouts, but you can only use this mode with custom races. Not in Campaign Mode. I hope the devs will really implement the 2280 mode in the future! [-] There are some really extreme difficulty spikes There are some REALLY extreme spikes. I'm not notably bad at AG racers, I'm a long time WipeOut player and have put in hundreds of hours, but some parts in the campaign are suddenly so hard i can't even get bronze. I hope this gets fixed, because it is really noticable, and doesn't align with the rest of the game. All in all, this is a great package for anti-gravity racing fans. I'm honestly very impressed this is made by a 2-man studio. I hope they continue to work on this game, adding more features and content. The amount of features combined with the modding support could possibly make me love this game more than the actual Wipeout games.
