Not the expected standard for an AM HO game.
The puzzles are really easy to do although some are different to the norm. Unfortunately the story was really boring and lacked excitement probably due to minimal dialogue. Almost warranted a thumbs down, but ok if you don't want much of a challenge and get it on sale.

A wonderful experience. You're an agent that works for the French army in the Second World War. Your enemy wants to obtain a powerful artifact known as the Spear of Destiny. Once someone wields it, that person would become unstoppable. You got to stop the enemy from reaching their goals and... watch your back. Not everyone is your friend. PROS: - Wonderful narrative experience; - Music fits the atmosphere; - Collectibles are short and obtainable; - Achievements and trading cards; - The game might not have a bonus chapter, but it's a good thing. CONS: - For sensitive players, enemies die in unfortunate situations; - Nothing else. I recommend this game to anyone passionate about the World Wars, special agents, the military and fantastic weaponry.

Somehow this turned out to be a weirdly hard Mundi game for me, I am not sure if it was the direction or the puzzles but my god i got stuck a LOT playing this game and not in a way that made a ton of sense. Many of the puzzles seem nonsensical to me. Honestly this one was more frustrating than enjoyable.

This game looked really cool. I was very excited for a new game from Artifex Mundi because I just love their games. I have 14 of them. But this game.... The story just wasnt really there. I thought it was all about finding this artifact but I found it within 5 minutes. I wanted to keep trying but I just couldn't keep playing. I would reccomend buying a different game from artifex mundi they have a lot of really good games, this one just isnt one of them.

Honestly not one of the better games that Artifex Mundi have put out. It takes a lot of the classic Artifex Mundi puzzles and techniques and uses them so sloppily that you really have to wonder if they put any thought into it at all, or just tossed them in there because, hey, that's what these games do, right? The whole game is a mess. It's playable, and that's really the only praise I can give it.

I've played all the Artifex Mundi games on Steam so far, I've enjoyed most of them but this one was just not good at all. Story was boring and didnt make much sense, it seemed like it was missing a lot of background information or just information in general. Compared to the other games this one also seemed pretty short (and yet somehow drawn out) and didnt even have a little extra unlocked episode after completing the main story like most of the games have. I'm a big fan of these games but this one was a big dissapointment and frankly a waste of money even at the 40% off sale price I paid. If youre gonna try one of these games out try the enigmatis series (my personal fave) or a fairy tale one instead. Hopefully Artifex Mundi's next game is much better than this one.

This was definitely not one of the best Artifex Mundi HOGs. I did enjoy playing it though, because I was bored. If you are also bored as hell and played through all the other HOGs, this can help pass some hours. But, as there is no bonus adventure included and you can get all the achievements in one go (all but one: I think "Moviegoer" is broken) I can only recommend waiting until the game is part of some bundle. Even paying 40% less was still a bit too much.

I really like Artifex Mundi games, but this one is upseting. It's just a puzzles for puzzles and HOSes for HOSes. Story is obvious and not interesting, kinda Indiana Jones in bad interpretation. Poor tries to add interactive dialogs just annoying. Plus, I (and at least few other people) have problem with one of the achievements. So, if you want a good puzzle game from AM better play Enigmatis or Grim Legends series.

During World War II, a course to retrieve the mythical Spear of Destiny, destined to help people rule the world, is happening between Axis and Allies. Agent Walker is sent to destroy it after it was localized in France. However, once there, she fell in a trap... The Spear of Destiny... it's not the first time that I've heard about it: another casual adventure game has the same object in a similar setting and I still remember that a similar artifact was one of the objectives of Lara Croft in Chronicles. Agent Walker is another twist: while the Spear is found early, Nazis managed to retrieve it as she fell into a trap. The result is the chase through a village and underground temples. However, the Spear of Destiny isn't the only thing: there is a colossus you need to finish as it's protecting the Spear and the machine that can destroy it is situated elsewhere. Some twists are also present, though I would have preferrd more interaction with enemies and more explanations on the twist. However, Agent Walker is pretty standard on the gameplay: hidden objects scenes to clear (relatively easy, though some items are changing appearance), puzzles (also easy), find items, combine them, use them to advance. Some of the scenes are also with silhouettes to find and to use (without forgetting the only puzzle thrown into the scene). The graphics are good, but I would have preferred more World War II-related things: I could imagine Agent Walker captured or travelling across Europe or even more confrontation with the real enemy. The soundtrack is good too. Agent Walker: Secret Journey is an average game, not really the best in Artifex Mundi's catalogue (if they developed it, it would have been better) but not the worst, far from it.

Yep, another decent hidden object game from Artifex Mundi. The puzzles in this one require some lateral thinking. ***

Game Information "Agent Walker: Secret Journey" is a Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure game. The game was developed by Brave Giant Studio and published by Artifex Mundi. The Game Review Game Visuals I want to mention that the visuals in the game are nicely done. The visuals can be adjusted in the game's option menu. Game Audio I want to mention that audio for the game is well done. Even though the audio is somewhat simplistic and repetitive. The audio can be adjusted in the game's option menu as well. Gameplay There are four different game difficulty modes to choose from: Casual; Advanced; Expert and Custom. The notebook keeps track of the progression in the game. Such as story events and clues. There is an interactive map in the game. It allows the player to fast travel between each location quickly without having the need to constantly backtrack. It also indicates that there are a variety of tasks that can be completed at various locations within the game. The interactive map is automatically given at the start of the game. There is no padlock feature that is available to lock the inventory panel in place to make it stationary. The inventory panel automatically comes stationary. There are some interactive items in the game. Some of the interactive items may require extra components before they can be interacted with. All interactive items are marked with a symbol in one of the corners. The hidden object scenes consist of the following: Find 'x' amount; Shadow items and Traditional word lists. Some of these hidden object scenes may require a little or no interaction. Most of the hidden object scenes can be replayed in the game's extra feature section. The puzzles are fairly easy to solve without having the need to skip any of them. Most of the puzzles can be replayed in the game's extra feature section as well. There are three sets of collectibles in the game: Military Uniforms; Doll Figurines; Miniatures. All of the collectibles are scattered throughout the game for the player to find. There are sixteen different achievements that can be unlocked from playing the game. Each of these achievements does come with some requirements that need to be completed before they can be unlocked. Miscellaneous There are extra features in the game: Wallpapers; Interview; Concept Art; Soundtracks; Mini-Games and Hidden Object Scenes. Most of these extra features can be accessed only after the entire game is completed. There are five different trading cards to collect. Only three of those trading cards are given out by the game. There are several ways to get the rest of the trading cards: Purchased from the Steam's Community Market; Trade with friends; Booster Packs and its Booster Pack Creator. Final thoughts: I have found the game enjoyable to a certain extent. The replay value for the game is low. I would recommend this game, but not at the game's full price value.

This is a very mediocre game. I have played many HOGs over the years and this one simply didn't grab me. Art was ok and it did have an original concept being in wartime. However, to my surprise, it was quite short. I tend to take my time and I finished in 4 hours. It was very easy too. I play on casual mode and didn't require a walkthrough at all, which is very rare. You are really held by the hand, so if you're looking for a challenge, don't play this!! Overall, I found the game to be very boring. It was missing a spark along the way. Lots of HO scenes and mini puzzle, but storyline was poor. 5 out of 10 for me. Definitely buy when on a sale which is what I did.

After hearing all of the hype about Artifex Mundi games, I have to say I'm extremely disappointed. While this game isn't bad, it certainly isn't good either. I like the artwork and music, but there are several problems. It took me a total of about 6.5 hours to finish, and after 3.5 or 4 hours, I was actually hoping it would be over soon because it wasn't enjoyable any more. I got it on sale for $3.99, and I definitely regret this purchase. Pro: + Nice artwork + Nice music Con: - Many HO items blend into background nearly perfectly, making them extremely difficult to see - Many HO items 90-95% covered, making them extremely difficult to see - Many HO items mislabeled - Some HO items not commonly known (such as Aquarius, Saggitarius, bracer, and tanto) - Some HO items misspelled (such as "Scull" instead of "Skull") - Some HO scenes with unstated rules (like the first one, where you have to click the listed items, and then click the gemstones revealed when the listed items move) - Many mini-games with unclear rules - Many mini-games where all you do is point, click, and repeat (no thought required) - One mini-game (parachute one) where they literally said to guess which buttons to press - Too much back and forth (go to scene A, perform action to get item 1; go to scene B, use item 1, perform action to get item 2; go back to scene A, use item 2, perform action to get item 3; then go back to scene B, use item 3, and perform action to get item 4) - Some scenes with unintuitive, somewhat nonsensical required actions

A very disappointing game. I've played a lot of HOGs and this was one of the worse. I am surprised that Artifex Mundi put out such an inferior game. I read all the other negative reviews and will not repeat them, but they are accurate.

I cannot recommend this title. First of all it is too short for the price you need to pay. Second, the beginning gives you an impression that it is going to be a good one, with an interesting plot, some magic mixed in the WW2, but that's a lie, don't fall for it. The plot tried to be there, sometimes, occasionally, from time to time, but not really. At some point it got so simplified that it stopped making any sense and became just a background "noise". PROs: * You get to shoot an enemy with a bazooka * Beautiful artwork * Pleasant music * Achievements/ steam cards * Interactive map * Easy 100% CONs: * Way too short for the price, 2 hours of gameplay * No replay value * No bonus chapter * The plot was too simplified, illogical and inconsistent * Extremely easy puzzles, basically clicking without even waking up your brain * Confusing actions without any justification on explanation * Too many HO scenes in a raw what makes them a little boring * Horrible price - length ratio

Some pf the hidden object puzzles are not that fun. Basically making it so dark that you can barely see them.
  • bambita

    May 22, 2020

Like most of what other people have said already, this is not a well-made game. The hidden object aspect is very easy which can be good or bad depending on your preference. The puzzles, on the other hand, is a mixed bag. I've gotten stuck several times because the instructions didn't explain properly enough. The puzzles themselves are straightforward enough but the lack of clarity in instructions bumps up the difficulty level in an unsatisfying way. I don't generally care too much about story in HO games because they tend to be lacklustre anyway. That being said, this game definitely takes the cake in how bare-boned a "story" can be.

    Aug 25, 2020

Usually I love Artifex Mundi games, but this is quite a sad exception. I saw the mixed reviews but as I've played others with mixed reviews before and got it on a big discount. But while the others just were not up to the usual Artifex Mundi standards and maybe somewhat boring, it's hard for me to find anything worth to play for in this game. Actually I even was deeply offended by quite some elements of this game. Sure, you will have some hidden object games and some mini games and collecting items. But there is only a very shallow story so thin, that I am hesitant to call it even a story when thinking of so many other gems of Artifex Mundi. Also what you get as a story is quite often just directly violent, without a lot of explanation why. You'll have to kill people who didn't act badly as such beside of being on the other side during a war. And you have to do it multiple times and with quite some brutal solutions. This is surely not why I chose to play hidden object, puzzle, artful and story rich games. But worse, the art is just a weird mix of some times and areas and the landscape is just put together in a very unrelated fashion, where you have to scratch your head about how these places should be connected in a sensible manner. And why are there random Egyptian or Chinese symbols in a European WW II setting? Then why did they chose WW II as context when it's just some background and then they mix a lot of stereotype figures who in an odd fashion, where those NPCs seem to have some deeper agenda by themselves but we just use them for our needs and leave them to their own fate. If a game is not seriously about WW II it should not use this theme. It's nothing to just play around with. As a German I really cannot understand why this was done. Without actually putting the characters in a real context regarding that war. But while the characters are more or less unrelated all the collections are WW II related. It's all military stuff. You have to collect uniforms and weapons. And as a reward you can watch short films about how those weapons were used. Seriously? Why? Why is there even more random violence show? Violence that is not based on the story of the game? Regarding the atmosphere it doesn't really feel WW II related most of the time. It's just about two or three places that are placed accordingly. Everything else is random caves, mythtical tunnels, temples, a cellar, a random throne room, some magical green house and the like. With more or less random decorations. The music really got to my nerves. It was not pleasing but also not really helping the story. Instead it felt extremely short repetitive. The mini games are also mostly quite randomly placed and only seldomly there is some reason for why it's needed beside of opening one door after another. At the end it's mostly only hidden object games. Those where you have to wait for something to turn another shape again. And where you just have to search the whole place for the pointer to switch over, as you have to move a random object behind which the object you search is completely hidden. Which is also quite annoying. Overall I find it hard to find any aspect that is well executed in this game. But to be honest, the only positive I can think about is that it's an Artifex Mundi game and if you have played all of their other games and just are desparate for another one, you could consider it. But even then I fear a lot of people would be disappointed.

[Update: Wanted to add that this is a good introductory HOPA game for those who might be more interested in game elements than story.] Okay but not exceptional. Very pretty, but not especially interesting despite the setting. Translation is not as good as I'd expect for Artifex Mundi / Brave Giant. For example, "skull" and "scull" are two completely different things. I felt more could have been done with the WWII setting and fantasy elements. Pros: - nice music - good art - generally good HO scenes (often used twice, but the scenes are well-constructed) - good voice acting - interactive map works well - fully customizable difficulty - I liked what they did with the collectibles (once you have them) Cons: - the story and protagonist failed to be engaging; felt shallow (yes, even for the HOPA genre) - mediocre translation given the AM brand - puzzles are very easy (maybe there should be a choice of difficulty for puzzles?) - a strong feel of "use and throw away" tools (like darn it, I wanted to keep that knife / wrench / screw driver etc. etc.) - overall sense that this was rushed - linear and on the short side Overall: get it on sale and you'll have an okay HOPA game that gives you Steam achievements and trading cards
